The first stop on our list is Brigantine Beach. Just a little over an hour beyond Center City, Brigantine is the closest beach to Philadelphia. Small in size, this beach is the best spot for a fast outing from Philly.

When you're not taking in the sun and saltwater, pop over to the Brigantine Historical Museum for a look into the past or grab some regional produce from the Brigantine Farmers Market.

Margate

Another neighboring spot, Margate is best understood for Lucy the Elephant, a six-story elephant-shaped monument, constructed of wood and tin sheeting and the earliest surviving roadside tourist attraction in America.

From Congo Falls experience golf to surf camps, there's lots of excellent things to do in Margate. Include complimentary street parking and a great beach and you have all the makings of a fantastic family destination. Grab a table at Steve & Cookie's By the Bay prior to you go out!

Sea Isle City

A Philly favorite, Sea Isle City is a little beach town right beside Ocean City. Accentuated by a beachfront promenade, packed with shops and cafés, the beach is not the only destination in this quaint beach town. However, if water sports destinations are your thing, the location has actually designated beaches for kayaking, kiteboarding, rafting, and surf fishing.

After a long day of surf and sun, take pleasure in a quick piece from Uncle Oogies or a seafood banquet from Mike's Seafood and Dock Dining Establishment. If you're wanting to keep the enjoyable going all night, the bar and club scene is not too worn-out either!

Avalon

One of the more high end beaches of the Jersey Coast, Avalon's beaches are incredibly tidy, jutting out into the ocean a mile farther than any of the other Jersey beach towns. Generally residential, the town is overflowing with yoga studios and shops. Check out our related short article: Things to Do in Avalon.
