The Structure of a Patio Umbrella

The material woods

-This is the most common type of material. Teak, ash, and other hardwoods were used to create this piece. For the most part, wood is rustic, natural, and appealing.

Aluminum

-Lightweight and robust extruded aluminium poles and ribs powder-coated in a variety of colours and finishes, they are more suited to humid areas.

Fiberglass

This is most commonly used on the ribs that spread the canopy out when it is open. Wood ribs will break and aluminium will bend when an Patio Umbrellas is open and is toppled by a wind gust. Fiberglass ribs are a more forgiving option since they easily flex to spill wind energy. This is better suited to areas with greater winds, such as coastal regions. Fiberglass is also applied to an aluminium pole to add strength and/or texture, such as to resemble a bamboo stalk.
