Tony Romo figured his weakness would be exposed in his PGA Tour debut. They were 鈥?and then some.

The former Dallas Cowboys quarterback finished last Friday in the 132-man field in the Corales Puntacana Resort and Club Championship Miles Killebrew Jersey , bogeying the first six holes in a 10-under 82.

"I kind of have an idea of where I really need to put my time in as far as to get better and scoring," Romo said. "I'm hitting the ball fine, you just have to score."

Now an NFL analyst for CBS Sports, Romo opened with a 77 on Thursday. At 15 over, he was six shots worse than the next player on the leaderboard and 28 strokes behind leader Brice Garnett.

On Friday, Romo followed the opening bogey run with a double bogey on the par-4 18th. He birdied the par-5 fourth and par-4 sixth on the second nine, but had double bogeys on the par-3 second and par-4 fifth.

"I lipped out three or four putts early, some short putts that kind of got me almost a little bit pressing," Romo said. "I just didn't hit the irons very good today. The back nine's 4,000-some yards, so when you're not hitting those, well you're going to have tough shots.

"Short-sided a few times Leonard Floyd Jersey , made too many mistakes. So a lot of stuff to learn from, and in a good way. I'll be able to kind of assess why I didn't play as well as I wanted to and then you go attack it. In a month from now I think we'll see things a little better."

Romo received a sponsor's exemption to the tournament and played as an amateur. The event has one of the weaker fields of the year because it is held opposite the World Golf Championships event in Texas.

"The putting's a big thing," Romo said. "I could see that you can tell that the speed control, a lot of little things. We hit the ball fine. We're going to be fine with contact, I don't feel out of place with that. I just feel like a lot of little stuff. I'll tug an iron on a hole that you really can't because you're going to be downwind short-sided and you're making a double."

Garnett followed his opening 63 with a 68 to get to 13-under 131.

"There's so much golf left, 36 holes, and especially out here guys are going to make charges from way back," Garnett said. "A lot of birdies are out there. So I'll just keep my head down, keep plugging and try to have a solid weekend."

Steve Wheatcroft and Keith Mitchell were a shot back, each after their second 66. Seungsu Han (67) and Xinjun Zhang (68) were 10 under. Hunter Mahan (65) topped the group at 9 under, and Geoff Ogilvy (67) was 8 under.

ESPN is going with a fresh approach for its first 2018 regular-season broadcast of "Monday Night Football."

Two announcers with plenty of NFL credentials but far more entrenched in the college game these days will be handling the Jets-Lions game from Detroit: Beth Mowins and Brian Griese.

"We are pretty excited to bring the franchise on the air, and hoping some pretty good story lines will play out Tony Romo Jersey ," says Mowins, who did last year's second half of the opening doubleheader with analyst Rex Ryan. Mowins also does a few CBS telecasts of NFL games during the season, as well as Oakland Raiders preseason contests, but her main gig is college sports.

Griese is one of the top analysts of the college game, an insightful and often critical but fair voice.

"Guys who can shoot from the hip are always fun to work with," Mowins says.

Of course, he also played 11 pro seasons, starting 83 games. So his knowledge of both levels of football is expansive.

"I think the pro game in a lot of ways is more familiar to me than the college game," Griese notes. "I have had to learn the college game as it has grown. I spent 11 years in the NFL playing quarterback and it's more similar to what I know."

What both Mowins and Griese know is that the fan bases of both teams will be stoked for the game, even though Jets-Lions isn't quite the marquee matchup. Indeed, the NFL gave ESPN what appears to be a better game in the nightcap, Jon Gruden's return as the Raiders host the Rams. The regular and new Monday night crew of Joe Tessitore and Jason Witten will be in the booth Tyler Eifert Jersey , Booger McFarland at field level for that one.
