When writing a funeral obituary for the funeral service, you might think that no further details are needed. While the obituary for a funeral program can be as long and detailed as you wish, do not go overboard. An obituary may be written for death notices in newspapers, or it can be written for the funeral program, funeral prayer cards, and memorial keepsakes.

Sample format of an obituary for Janet Snow, 44, Janet Snow, 44, died on March 1, 2004, in Enumclaw, Wash., with her family at her side. A memorial service was held on Wednesday in Greenwood Memorial Park, Renton, Wash. Janet Snow’s hobbies and interests included family, gardening, sewing, and reading and writing short stories. Ralph Smith Hunter, 91, of Iona, passed away on Sept. 23, 2022, at Lincoln Court Retirement Community.
