Nuggets' Michael Porter Jr. discusses recovery from back injury, expectations for season

Michael Porter Jr. isn’t about to compare himself for the other rookies in their class.
The 20-year-old forward said in May he felt he was the most beneficial player in this current year’s draft. But, he’s not emphasizing proving he was right.

Porter underwent a 2nd back surgery in mid-July and it has not appeared inside a preseason game for Denver. He said he could be considered day-to-day where there’s currently no timetable for his return.
“(The rehab process) may be taxing definitely,” Porter said. “I’m not planning to lie. It’s hard each day doing a similar stuff. But it’s necessary. Right now, it’s just learning how being patient and staying motivated daily and seeing the light in the end in the tunnel. Seeing the progress I’m making every single day makes it pretty easy to look in there and find the work done.”
