This is a litteraly, good stratedgy game. It doesn't catch the same spirit of other RTS's like StarCraft, Warcraft 3, Total War Series, Savage or the Age of Empire Series, but it's still a good stratedgy game.I have had my few expirences with the bugs and the control layout picked for this title, but after a little adaption to the hotkeys for attacking, building and so on; I was having a ball. They are now currently giving away the Noxx DLC for free, so I got no complaints with them on that!

Each race has it's own strengths and weaknesses and each on of them react uniquely. Example, The Nova race, all of their buildings fly, land and take off with the exception of the command center. IIt sounds like Terrans from Star Craft, though I never seen the terrans move a stationary laser turret or a bunker to the front lines in the middle of a battle before.

Another Example is the XY's, The use of the small 'cell' minions to create buildings and units! If you no longer need a unit or a building, it can be broken back down to the cell minion uniots and be built into something else! It's my favorite race so far for the versatility this race has and the change of tactics on the fly!

Next thing I love about this game is the use of darkness in all of the games played in NightSide. While it keeps the devs from having to create textures for their maps, it acts perfectly as a fog of war and can help determine the power of your army or settlement. Such as, when you have a bunch or units gathered together, you can see a little more of the map around you and the units area is more well lit vs. a single unit out in the darkness is only a speck of dirt when he's trudging out there.

I'm not a huge fan of techno, but the music composed for this during games is beautiful. I may look into buying it at some point when I have the funds. If there's a NightSide 2 in development oir if the Dev's plan to Release something else for this RTS, consider me hooked and in line toi get it.. to basic to simple and bugs in the first, second and third missions... not going to finish. Hello, This will be a short breif or not review.

As from the gameplay i played was great and fun challenging never the less. So this game is released and updated are coming around the week the only problem with this game is the lack of tools and path finding. Many people complain about the same thing but you should wait on the developers because there 2 that are working on the game. A game like this is good in a spam of 4 mouths. If the lvl one mission on easy is hard i have a video on how easy i beat it in around 15 min and that was my first time playing. I was a 5 time master league player in SC2 I put hundreds of hours in the game and I think this game does a good job doing an interesting take doing a similar game to it.


To start the game is different in terms of the macro mechanics by it only having 1 resource type rather than the 2 of SC2. This I think is fine I think the macro mechanics are pretty interesting for each of the 3 races even if they aren't perfect just yet.


There are bugs and missing features but the game feels good to play gameplay wise. Ill give it a serious look when they they get multiplayer up and running and fix some of the bigger bugs like not being able to get units when they walk to the edges of the map. But in general ill give it a positive review because it is a good start and the game already works just fine other than just needed the few months of fixes before their eventual release.. Game is too easy and needs serious polishing. Coding is not optimized so there are slow game play issues. Overall it is a fun game and has some interesting twists for units, but unless you really need a new rts stick to something tested and optimized. Having a major framerate drop during a 10 v 10 unit skirmish kills the mood.. I think if you are reading reviews for this game you will know that its an early acess game, and as all games in this state this one is not finished and needs polish.

So what can you expect from the current early access version.

The Good
- interesting unit variety
- simple economic model
- Decent faction variety
- moving factories!
- Simple but cute graphics
- Simple but serviceable Ai compared to games like starcraft 2

The bad
- unfinished ui
- unbalanced unit stats
- numbers battle for the most part
- lack of some commands or default key combinations used in regular RTS`s
- (Personal complaint) game is too dark, but it gives some personality

Should you buy this game?
- Well i got the game to support it`s development cause i think it has a lot of potencial, and should you feel the same way go ahead and buy it.
- If your looking for a more finished product to fill your RTS needs, either wait for the game`s release or go buy an already released game.

Fog of war is meant to be an interesting dynamic, but with how slow units move combined with VERY limited range of light cast by said units, makes for a boring back and forth sweep of the map to find objectives.
(Also, no quit option in menu, only surrender or restart, so ALT+F4 is often the easiest way to bail on this VERY average game.). Meh... clunky, run of the mill, RTS.

* The music is great and also quite relaxing.
* I love the dark and glowy art style.
* I normally like lots of pew pew and splosions in an RTS- in this game they have been dialed down a bit - which is also relaxing
* The controls are fairly simple
* The terrain is only visible where you have lit it up with units\/buildings, but what you can see is quite attractive.
* While there are a few Oh Sh*t moments, quite often the battles are fairly chill as well
* The hardest part is when you play for the first time as a different race there are different unit types to learn as well as a different play style.

This is not a frantic apm rts. This is a really nice atmospheric rts to relax with after a hard day.

Note i have only played for a few hours \/ a couple of races, so maybe it gets busier later on.

Its a shame that the steam rating system is so lacking in nuance. Many of the complaints about this game are the very things that make it stand apart. Startcraft exists, Planetary Annihilation exists, but until now i dont think there were many RTSs like this one.
