Motor Yachts for Sale - How to Choose the Right One

So you’ve finally decided to buy your own motor yacht, but where do you start? There are so many different types of yachts available, and each one has its unique features, pros, and cons. To get started, be sure to check out our guide on how to choose the right motor yacht for you below:

It all starts with a dream of owning a yacht. However, when you are trying to turn it into a reality, you are bombarded with many aspects like which yacht will suit your need? Which hull type should you go with? What is your budget? What should be the build material of the yacht? The answers to these questions will help find the right one. We will discuss it in detail now.

Choosing the Right Hull Type:

When looking at motor yachts for sale, are you looking for a monohull or a multihull? Catamarans are getting increasingly popular as they offer a lot more living space, are faster, and are harder to capsize. However, if you do manage to capsize it, it is nearly impossible to get them up again by yourself. They are on the expensive side of yachts and are not catered in all marinas. A monohull is usually the most common option.

If looking for a monohull yacht for sale, choose from either a new one or a used one. If you are ready to wait, a new one will offer you full satisfaction. However, if you are looking at a more value for money option then you should look at a used motor yacht for sale. You can often find great deals if you are keen-eyed and thoroughly search the market.

When it comes to budget, make sure you are including the extra equipment that you will need. This might cost as much as around 20% on a new yacht and around 50% of a used one. You will also need insurance, a berth for your boat to store it during the winter and you will need to consider regular maintenance as well.

Choosing the Right Material:

When looking at luxury motor yachts for sale, you will find they are available in different materials:

- A Glass reinforced plastic one is light, durable and light on maintenance.
- Steel is strong but is prone to rust. Steel must also be painted at all times.
- Aluminium can be found on high-end custom builds, but be wary if you find one for a cheap price.
- Wooden ones are the cheapest but require more maintenance.
