Moroccan oil is produced by the bright yellow fruit of the argan tree which grows almost exclusively in the desert-like region of Morocco called Argana. Inside the fruit of the tree is a large pit containing one to three seeds containing this exotic oil rich in anti-oxidant tocopherols. The oil is removed from the seeds then processed with either a cold pressed process for cosmetic products or a slow roasted process for culinary use.

The cooking oil is called argan oil. The argan seeds are gently roasted for part of the oil's distinctive, nutty flavor and unique smell. High in mono and polyunsaturates (80%), linoleic acid (34%), and plant sterols, argan oil is a healthy as it is delicious as a salad dressing or condiment.

In addition to being a healthy food source the argan oil has a hydrating quality that has been discovered by the hair care industry to be good for hair.
