So that you can actually lay out you know make a picture frame out of material and weld it all together and it's all going to be straight and flat without having to do anything special well it's always good to have a selection of clamps so at harbor freight and that's what these are at harbor freight right now they're having a special 399 for these 11 inch locking pliers let me show them to you and that's the deal Metal Corner Brackets there and what we're going to do is we're going to modify these clamps to make a set of quick set of clamps that you can use that'll attach right into these mounting holes so if you guys are looking for a great way to get involved in welding and be able to actually make real precision stuff without going out spending thousands on a fabrication table this is a great way to do it i would say probably somewhere in the neighborhood of picking up this scrap plate and building these clamps you could do this for probably right about a hundred bucks and the one costly thing and again if you watch that other Metal Corner Brackets to that link up above you'll know that i had to use a mag drill to drill these holes well you don't have to go and buy a mag drill to do this.

You can go out and rent one this is just a real good way to have a nice accurate fabrication table that you guys can weld on you guys can fab up your stuff on just really slick so again i'm all about doing things on a budget and trying to do a good job and making your stuff last and these again fit that theme so what first thing we got to do is we're going to modify these clamps and i'm going to show you how we make these fit now what these are called is these are called a shoulder bolt and i bought these through i think ebay and these are what the shoulder bolts look like they're not cheap i can't remember how much they are they might be i don't know two or three dollars a piece but that's what it looks like again i'll have a link down in the description for you guys so you guys can check it out but uh so what it is a shoulder bolt is built to a real tight tolerance so Outdoor Screws this shoulder right here is just a few thousandths of an inch less than the diameter here that's what gets these to fit so good you see how those fit in there nicely well then. What I do is cut the thread off the end of it just like that then just lightly chamfer it around so it finds the hole real easy and that's that as slick as that so what this is going to involve is what we've done here is we've just welded a shoulder bolt onto one of these clamps.
