“We are thrilled to be breaking ground on our newest data center in Kuna, Idaho. Thank you to all of our partners who helped us move this project forward,” Thank you to all of our partners who contributed to the success of this initiative," said Darcy Nothnagle, Meta's director of community and economic development. “Kuna is a great place to call home and we are committed to investing in the community’s long-term vitality. We look forward to having a strong, fruitful partnership for years to come."

During the peak of construction, the project is expected to provide about 100 operational employment to Kuna and over 1,200 construction jobs. Meta plans to start building on the 960,000-square-foot data center in September, with completion due in 2025. Meta will also invest $50 million in Kuna's new water and sewer system, which the city will own and administer.

Senator Mike Crapo remarked, “this is a promising step for job growth and opportunities in the community.”

“The data center is expected to be supported by renewable energy and advance partnerships with local schools and other organizations. These outcomes are an immense benefit to our communities and the strength of our economy.”

The Gem State has long been regarded as a favorable location for data centers due to its stable environment, workforce, and minimal danger of natural disasters, according to the Idaho Department of Commerce.

The project, dubbed the Meta Kuna Data Center, will be powered entirely by renewable energy, making it Idaho Power's projected Clean Energy Your Way program's first customer. To assist recover the water utilized by the data center, the corporation will also contribute in local water restoration programs.

After the company reported two weeks ago that Facebook's daily active user base declined for the first time ever, Meta's stock has dropped nearly 40% year to date. The corporation is no longer among the top ten most valuable companies in the world.
