Clicks Technology is launching the Clicks creator keyboard for the iPhone at a cost of $139, providing users with a nostalgic throwback to the era of physical buttons reminiscent of BlackBerry and Nokia devices. While it may seem like a step back in time, the Clicks creator keyboard aims to merge the benefits of touch and typing in a unique way.

Michael Fisher, co-founder of Clicks Technology, notes that despite the prevalence of on-screen keyboards and advanced features like swipe, predictive text, and spell-checking, physical buttons have not been entirely abandoned. He suggests that keyboards are a familiar tool in our daily use of desktops, laptops, and tablets, and the smartphone experience could benefit from their reintroduction.

The Clicks keyboard offers a distinctive approach by moving the keyboard off the display during typing, effectively doubling the available screen space. This design choice allows users to witness their typing in high-definition clarity, providing a unique perspective on any typos made.

For those who miss the tactile feel of physical keys, the Clicks creator keyboard features real keys, bringing back the sensation of typing on a traditional keyboard. However, it also introduces keyboard shortcuts for iPhone users, such as CMD + H to navigate to the home screen or CMD + Space to launch the Search function.


In a departure from the wireless trend, Clicks connects directly to the iPhone through Lightning or USB-C ports. The device is set to ship on February 1, and orders are currently open.
