INDIVIDUALS thirst for pubs could finally be quenched when they reopen this Saturday as lockdown measures are eased further. Saiqa Chaudhari reports at how one pub will be preparing to open it has the doors to customers right after calling last orders in excess of three months ago.
LANDLORD Sean Hornby, like many publicans up and down the country, is relived he can finally open The Queens within Bradley Fold after more than 100 days of lockdown.

"It is concerning opening the pub in a safe environment, " said Sean as he prepares to put up more social distancing signage around his club, which includes 'seating plans' indicating the number of people can be at table at any one time.
He said: "The Queens Pub are going to be different to which people had entered before the lockdown.

"The same social distancing rules people used to in a supermarket may apply here.

"There will be a the best way system in and outside the pub.

"There will always be signage. There will end up being a hand sanitisation rail station as people enter the pub.

Sean, who can also be a councillor, said: "I will probably know in excess of most about the pandemic due to the committees I sit upon, and safety is vital.

"I have a duty of your care to my staff and in addition they will have the authority to ask people to help leave, no matter what amount they are spending. "
The biliard table has gone, and the weekly karaoke session can no longer take place.

There will be no pub meals, as says Sean "we require this right first before we start contemplating food"
Although the reopening and procedures into position may sound clinical, Sean is determined the pub remains to be very much in the centre of the community.

"I'm looking forward to seeing customers, " stated Sean, "Quite a few I have kept in contact with over social websites especially our elderly customers because I think it is often important.
"Customers will have a bunch of stories to tell while they have been in lockdown.

"I will be asking customers to send in funny photographs of lockdown and put them on a memory stick to suggest to them as a slideshow on one of many televisions. "

The first delivery regarding beer is expected later this week and the pub has undergone a new deep clean.
Gone are the days when queues in the bar were two, a few deep.
Numbers of customers is going to be monitored and there will probably no standing at that bar.

Sean said: “The number of folks we can have will vary, if there is two mates then it will be two people around that table, if it is any bubble or a family obviously you will get more around a stand, there is no exact figure regarding how many you can have in. ”.
