Shining Skull - Kapalabhati Kapalabhati is a yoga kriya (cleaning) activity, despite being a breathing exercise. Kapalabhati, on the other hand, is a popular yoga pose. Kapalabhati is a breathing technique that involves a succession of quick "pumpings"/exhalations and passive inhalations, followed by breath retention. Take a few deep breaths while sitting in a comfortable upright sitting position. Pull your abdomen in tight as you inhale and exhale fast. For 20 to 40 breaths, repeat the pumping technique. Slowly and deeply inhale. Completely exhale. Take a deep breath in and hold it for as long as you feel comfortable. Exhale slowly. Rep this sequence 2–3 times more.

Alternate Nostril Breathing (Anuloma Viloma).

This breathing technique is relaxing. It aids in the integration of the left and right sides of the body's energies. Anuloma Viloma helps to purify and cleanse the nadis by balancing the flow of energy in the body. Six phases make up each round of Anuloma Viloma.

Begin by sitting up straight in a comfortable position. Tuck your index and middle fingers into your palm with your right hand. Your thumb should be on your right nose, while your ring and little fingers should be on your left nostril. Your left hand should be resting on your left knee.

For a count of four, close your right nostril with your thumb and breathe in through your left nostril.

Close both nostrils and hold your breath for 16 seconds.

For a count of 8, breathe out through your right nostril while holding your left nostril closed with your ring and little fingers.

For a count of four, breathe in through your right nostril while closing your left.

Close both nostrils and hold your breath for a count of 16.

For a count of 8, exhale from the left nostril while closing the right with your thumb.

If you're new to Anuloma Viloma, practice breathing in and out through your nose with the various hand postures for a few rounds.
