If you are actually going to be the person in charge of the construction of this structure, you may want to try doing some preparation work first. This is especially handy if you are not going to be using PVC materials. If you are using wood or some other type of material, you may want to do some pre-drilling to provide your composite fasteners with enough space to fit into the grooves. This will decrease the chance of them breaking and swelling. If you are going to be using PVC, then you don't have to worry about this preparation technique, since PVC is made differently and expands more for your fasteners.

Try to avoid composite deck fasteners that are shaped like the letter "V" or "U". These screws tend to swell more than any other types of screws. When they swell, they can lessen the quality of your deck's appearance. To preserve the integrity of your work, you should consider using composite deck fasteners that have a small flat head. Stainless steel screws tend to last longer than regular ones, and they are less likely to break and rust.
