Let me explain it in the following way. In 1969 the year I was in the first grade of my life in rural Alabama during winter, it was in temperatures in the 30's. And I had to go to school naked. Shoes were not allowed. I'm not sharing this story for sympathy or as a sob story. However, I do remember my brother standing just a few blocks further away from his home. The front door is open. There was a sister standing a block away from my brother. our other sister was waiting at the bus stop. My sister who was at the bus stop noticed that the bus had climbed the hill just a few kilometers away, she'd yell at my sister, who would yell to my brother, and then my brother would yell to me. I would then walk out the door with my feet in the air. When my brother reached my sister's house I'd have caught him by the time he reached me. As we made it there I'm about 15 yards in front of my brother and sister. From going to school barefoot in the winter of '69 to growing up and getting the same sneaker as me ... I was blessed.

After 30 odd years, people still brag about the shoe and even collect that shoe. Some time ago I had a friend to me, Anthony Anderson, the comedian, texted me, "Hey, Bo! I'm doing a comedy show about every pair of sneakers. I'm unable to locate those Air Shoes. I'm in need of your shoes it just happened that I had a pair sitting at my desk. I said, 'Hey! well, I got one here. I can just send them to you. It's times like this when I'm sitting back and go, 'Wow.'

This NFL season New York Giants running back and Nike player Saquon Barkley got his own rendition of Air Trainer 3. What was it like to observe him pay homage you through the sneakers?

I presented him with the shoes. It was like saying, 'Grasshopper, it's your time to carry this torch. It's up to you to carry it well. I am sure that Saquon will be able to do a fine job at that.
