With the first round of 2022's Madden NFL 23 Draft just one week away, it's getting closer to having the draft picks announced and erasing the pre-draft anxiety the majority of football fans live in. The lead-up to the draft is stressful if you're a fan of one of the teams that isn't doing well, as everyone is hoping their team doesn't make a mistake. In the past, we've seen several mock drafts from ESPN's Mel Kiper and Todd McShay On Tuesday, they released their first mock in Mut 23 Coins a group of the season, featuring the two draft experts alternating picks from the beginning of the second round all the way to the 3rd round. Today we'll examine some of the things that stood out at me upon seeing this mock.

Kiper is Walker taking No. 2 overall to the Lions as a reason that they'll stick to pass rush, in spite of Aidan Hutchinson being off the board (he's taken No. 1). On some level I get I understand it. Walker has the ideal size to be a 4-3-2 end as well as the athleticism typical for a 3-4 edge runner. The problem I'm trying to deal with is taking this much of a risk with an elite pick on an athlete who scored 9.5 sacks during his college career ... total.

Don't get me wrong, raw stats aren't the be all, end all for college pass rushers. But here's what scares me: In the top 10 leaders in sacks within Madden NFL 23 Madden NFL 23 last year there was only one player who didn't have at least 10.0 sacks-per-game in college.
