Last week, I attended the second digital version of the HPE Aruba Atmosphere event. Aruba and I have shown that the company considers the Edge Services Platform (ESP) to be the best case scenario used and improved at last year’s event. I also had the opportunity to spend time with leaders in a high-level interactive Q&A session. In this section, I would like to share my thoughts on the news that was especially interesting during the event.
The integration value of Silver Peak

HPE announced its intention to acquire the silver peak in July last year and closed the transaction a few months later. The tech giant must have seen its enormous value, given almost the price at the silver peak, and paid an billion dollars for the SD-WAN provider. I think this acquisition is a smart move that combines leadership in a wide network defined by the extensive software of Aruba Branch (which coined the term “SD-Branch”) and firmly maintains Silver Peak and segmentation capabilities. It also unites the two leaders in the SD-WAN space, which in my opinion is a very crowded market filled with too many i-offers.
I was amazed that Aruba introduced Silver Peak to the Edge Services Platform (ESP) within six months. Aruba ESP has four main divisions: Cloud Services and Data Management, Dynamic Policy and Security, Communication Sustainability and Ecosystem Building. Silver Peak expands ESP Capa in three main areas: Zero Trust Segmentation, Unified Branch Security and Partner Ecosystem Extended. Let us consider each of them.

Every network infrastructure provider today seems to be talking about zero trust, and for good reason. With the explosion of Internet of Things (IoT), the lack of historical standards of consistency, and the headless nature of many devices, IoT operators pose the greatest risks to the network. Silver Peak’s zero-confidence segmentation requires devices and users to communicate only with other endpoints associated with its role and function in order to eliminate the IoT threat. Single Branch Security is the second additional Silver Peak that Aruba has brought to the ESP platform. The unified security of the branch ensures the visibility of threats, compliance with the rules and the correlation of incidents. Silver Peak’s EdgeConnect is the channel that provides this feature. In my view, the security of Aruba is strong, as can be seen in the central part of Aruba, with the capabilities of access detection and prevention, risk registration and analysis, as well as a zone-based network. Finally, Silver Peak enriches the skillfully built ecosystem of Aruba’s partners because it has been in operation for many years. The ecosystem includes multiple domains and allows third-party devices, applications, and services to work with an open API philosophy. Perspectives of Aruba Performers

As mentioned earlier, I had the opportunity to spend virtual time with senior executives of Aruba, including Chairman Keerti Melkote. , CTO Partha Narasimhan and David Hughes, founder of Silver Peak (mainly responsible for WAN Aruba). Mr. Melcott spoke about the explosion of digital services caused by the pandemic, including

Narasimhan shared three client journeys at heart: one for sessions: one for the workplace, one for networking activities, and the other for business results approved by location services (a strong area for Aruba, as evidenced by the success of its Meridian platform). What convinced me the most was his discussion of the Aruba Fabric Composer program. According to Aruba, Fabric Composer can delete tens of thousands of CLI commands and accelerate network deployment. This is important because it allows IT staff to focus more on value-added issues such as the delivery of additional applications and services.
