HOW TO SHORTEN BLINDS | Trimming Vinyl Window Blinds

In this article, I'm gonna tell you how to shorten blinds. Coming up next, folks come over to Pinellas with Rose and Jose, and in this article, I'm gonna be telling you how to shorten a blind and as you can see the window behind me has a shorter height profile than a standard window which means that when we go to buy blinds. You're not gonna be able to find a one-inch blind, it is going to be the same profile as this one which means that if you want to have a nice and neat look. You're going to have to trim it down to size and. So that's what we're gonna be doing today before we get started. I want to give a quick public service announcement which is please watch this article in its entirety before you begin to attempt to do this. I want to make sure that you have a good understanding of the entire process because if you make too large of a mistake. You will have to start over by buying a new mini blind and trying the process again. So as we get started with this project there's gonna be a few tools that you may need. Number one is scissors number two a flathead screwdriver number three scotch tape number four tweezers. So let's jump into it. So as we get started the first step that we want to take is to take our blind and stretch it out which means you want to extend it down as close to the floor as possible getting it completely extended. So now we've got it completely straightened out or flattened out and the next step that we want to take is to use our tape or post-it note to mark off the location where we want our blind to be or our last rung to be and. So I like to have mine always just a little bit longer.

So I'm gonna have mine right here. I'm gonna mark this off with this piece of blue tape to make sure that I don't somehow forget. So now that we have got our lowest point marked off on our blinds, it's time to go ahead and make some modifications to the bottom of our blind okay. So now we're down here at the bottom of the blonde and the first thing we want to do is flip it over and I want to tell you on the underside you have these little pins here or buttons on the bottom you want to remove each one of these on this type of cordless blinds. There's three there's one on each in and there's one in the center there. We want to just simply pick these out if you've got a flathead screwdriver you can use it specifically for this purpose that's what you would need it for. If you don't care about your fingernails then you can just remove them like this kind of give them a little nudge with your nail there and they should all come out relatively easily. You want to keep these in a safe place because we are going to be using them here again very shortly. We'll go ahead and do the last one here. Let me stop for one second and go track down the one that I just heard get away okay. So now the next step we want to flip over our blind here on the bottom and I want to tell you what the underside looks like. So if you look closely you can see that these strings were tucked inside of the blind here and if we look like this you can see that there are two horizontal runs here below our slat. That’s all about today, see you in the next article.
