How to Set up RCS Chat on Samsung Phones Using Samsung Messages

RCS messaging feature becomes a frustrating process for all Android users. Therefore, Google decided to follow the bandwagon and allowed access to RCS through its own messages app. Similarly, Samsung also lagged parting to different wireless carriers. Here we will look at how you can set up RCS chat with the Samsung messages app.

Currently, there is no way to force the activation of RCS within Samsung messages, unlike Google Messages. Activating the RCS within Samsung Messages depends on your carrier. Therefore, whether you are using the Galaxy Z Fold 3 or the Galaxy S20 your mileage may vary while you receive these features.

You will get started and you will be taken to the settings screen for messages. There you tap Start and your number will get enrolled in RCS.

On your Samsung phone, open the Messages app.
At the top of your conversations, tap the three-dot overflow menu button.
Go to the drop-down menu and select Settings.
Tap on Chat Settings in the next Settings panel. From the Chat Settings, you get more options to tinker with. Here’re the different toggles you get:

How to set up RCS Chat with Google Messages
In case your Samsung Message RCS features don’t work with your carrier, you can download the Google Messages app to access the RCS features. If you have downloaded the Google Messages app, you can easily enable RCS by confirming your phone number and toggling RCS on. Here is the process, you find-

Firstly, open the Google Messages app on your phone.
Then tap the three-dot menu in the top right-hand corner.
Select settings
At the top of the settings, find and tap Chat Features.
Then, Enter your phone number.
And then, tap Continue.
Enter your phone number and tap Continue and that’s all you need to do to enable the feature. The Chat features menu will show “Settings Up” under Status. It will take a few moments when the status changes to Connected and you can take advantage of the RCS feature in Google’s Messaging app.
