How To Pair Your Desktop With Laptop

Sharing files amongst two devices is quite common these days and can be quickly done by using Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, external storage devices, or USB Pendrive. But it could become quite frustrating at times to share data using these means as all the methods mentioned above require double processing as an individual has to copy and paste their desired files two times to share.

First, a user has to copy the required data on any of the device mentioned above from the source device and then again repeat the same process on the other device. In addition, sometimes, the storage gets limited, and an individual has to use multiple components to share the data.

To get rid of such hustle a user can opt for an Ethernet Cable connection to establish a stable connection between their desktop and laptop and ensure fast file transfer. To Link your desktop with your laptop, users can refer to the steps mentioned below properly and share files without using any other device or internet.

The first step to establish a connection between your desktop and laptop requires an Ethernet cable. Insert one end of the Ethernet cable at the back of the CPU inside a square-shaped socket. And then insert the other end of the cable at the side of the laptop inside a similar square shaped box.
Now launch the “Start” menu on your desktop.
Then insert “control panel” in the search bar and open the control panel.
Now the user will have to choose the “Network and Internet” option from the control panel window.
After that, select the “Network and Sharing Center” button which would display all the active connections on your device. User will also see the Ethernet connection amongst other connect.
Now choose the “Ethernet” button, which is exactly below the Internet connection option.
After that, select the “Properties” option.
Users are now required to choose the “Internet Protocol Version 4” button which could be spotted precisely at the middle of the dialog box.
Now from the right-hand side of the panel, choose the “Properties” option.
Now users will have to change the present IP address of the established network by going through some essential steps.
First tick the “Use the following IP address” from the popped up dialog box.
Now enter “192.168.1.1” inside the “IP address” text field.
After that insert “225.225.225.0” inside the “Subnet mask” text field.
Then enter “192.168.1.2” in the “Default gateway” text field.
After correctly entering the required details in your desktop, go through the steps below to change the IP address for your laptop to establish a reliable connection between the two devices.

Head to the “Network and Sharing center” by following the same steps as done for desktop.
Now select the “Ethernet properties” and then choose “Internet Protocol Version 4” option. Then select the “properties” button to launch IP address settings.
Tick the “Use the following IP address” from the popped up dialog box.
Now enter “192.168.1.2” inside the “IP address” text field.
After that insert “225.225.225.0” inside the “Subnet mask” text field.
Then enter “192.168.1.1” in the “Default gateway” text field.
After adequately filling all the details hit the “OK” button two times.
By going through all the steps mentioned above, users will successfully pair both of their desktop and laptop together and easily share files between them. Users can directly use the file explorer to share the data amongst their paired devices. Hopefully, users will be able to link both their laptop and desktop together easily by following the steps mentioned above.
