How to choose the right toy for the right age?

If you give your child a toy, it could be anything, and they become the happiest people in the world. Young children are not too fussy when it comes to toys. However, parents should be. Toys, today, are more than playthings. Although they should be fun, toys should be stimulating, age-related, and safe. Now, when you buy age-related toys, you should keep specific things in mind. They are as follows –
0-12 months old

For the first three months, babies do not do anything other than observing the surrounding. Considering their vision is still blurry, they see bright and bold patterns quickly. Newborn baby toys need not be black and white if colours contrast with each other. As they grow older, they prefer toys with which their senses engage. Precisely why, so many toys promote interaction in different ways. They make squeaking and crinkling noises, have a nubby texture and are sot as well as cuddly.

1-2 years old

Such babies are fascinated by cause and effect. They prefer baby toys that respond to their action and syncs with their motor skills. For instance, they will choose toys which will allow them to hit a ball with the hammer or usage of buttons which plays music and so forth. There are many high-tech toys for this age where the kids press a button a letter, shape, or number speaks from the toy. They are, of course, too young to learn ABCs, but they would love interacting with such toys.

2-3 years old

Their playful stage becomes purposeful now, and they have the required motor skills to complete a puzzle or build blocks by themselves. They start to enjoy toys or games that imitate the actions around them. They would prefer high-tech toys which make real sounds such as dolls talking or the phone ringing. No matter what, your children would play gender-specific toys. Boys and girls are typically active at this age and will continue enjoying pull and push toys. You could maybe introduce tricycle at this age.

4-5 years old

There is a tremendous increase in the learning ability at this age. It is a great time to introduce them to educational toys which enhance their maths and communication skills. Choose toys that communicate positive quotes. Kids at this age imagine themselves as someone else and fantasise that they are pilots or teachers or doctors.

6-7 years old

This is the phase where they develop their interests and start learning from their peers and teachers. Some kids love doing science experiments, while others love creating beads or jewellery for their dolls. Friends become essential, and they might demand specific toys. Like boys would ask for robot toys, or they can demand board games or card games. Some also prefer music-related toys, but playing actual instruments is different and challenging.

8-plus years old
These kids enjoy outdoor activities such as riding cycles or do skating. They acquire adult interests and hobbies, which they might pursue. Girls love doing crafts or get inclined to creativity. Buys find computer games irresistible. These years are all about mastery and competence. With computer games, kids can challenge themselves to score better. Such kids also work on projects for longer hours.
