How To Cancel A Hotel Room At The Last Minute Without Being Charged

Perhaps you have had to cancel an accommodation at the last minute and then been told you'd to cover a cancellation fee? Don't you hate that? I am talking about, sometimes things happen and you merely won't have the ability to take the trip. I are finding ways to work around that.

Well, here is what I did so a few months ago cancelled TV shows. I called to cancel my hotel and I was told, "Which is $50 to cancel this reservation."

"$50? That's plenty of money. So there is nothing I can do? I'm stuck paying this fee?"

The consumer service agent on the other end said, "Well, you may push the reservation back and then cancel it."

You ought to have seen my face as I was processing what he said. I couldn't believe this man had been so helpful. "So, you're telling me that I can keep consitently the reservation and just push it back, then call back and cancel it and I won't be charged?"

He explained, "You didn't hear it from me."

I'd a large smile on my face as I said, "Well thanks so much for not telling me anything!"

So, there you have it. You can call and change the reservation which isn't being truly a no-show, it's just changing the dates. Then, you can call back and cancel it. If you should be anything like I was perhaps you are thinking, "Is this right to accomplish?" Well, contemplate it for a minute. It's certainly not illegal, and it's not wrong. There is nothing wrong with canceling an accommodation and there is no reason you should have to cover because your plans have suddenly changed. Life happens and sometimes you have to create some changes as you go along and there is unquestionably nothing wrong with that.

I am not saying this is going to benefit every hotel chain, however it did for me on a multiple occasion so try it the next time you are told you have to cover a cancellation fee for the hotel room. A very important factor you do need to find out before you try this is exactly what the cancellation/change policy is for the hotel. Some hotels wish to charge you if the reservation is changed significantly less than 24 hours before your stay, others are 48 hours prior. Just know what you're coping with which means you is going to be prepared.
