How Do Different Chakras Affect Different Aspects of our Love Life?

Our chakras are energy centers, with each being related to different characteristics. Each chakra can either be in balance or imbalance. When there is an imbalance in the chakra, we may experience behavioral, physical, and emotional symptoms and these can greatly affect our relationships and the way we interact with the world.

There are traditionally seven main chakras, each can impact our love life in different ways.

Root Chakra
The root chakra is associated with our sense of safety and security, the foundation for all the other chakras. If we don’t feel this sense of stability then we can project onto our relationships, questioning their stability.

Adora Winquist, Author, Leader in the Field of Alternative Medicine & Modern Alchemist, who has a vast knowledge of chakras, said, “A child who felt abandoned as a child may develop an imbalanced root chakra causing trust issues in its adult relationships.”

Sacral Chakra
Our creativity and sexuality. An imbalance could show up as a lack of interest in sex and intimate connection, feeling uncomfortable with intimacy, or if overactive perhaps experiencing sex addiction or addictions in general. These imbalances can impact our ability to form intimate relationships and attract love and abundance.

Solar Plexus Chakra
The solar plexus is linked with our self-confidence and personal power and sense of self. An imbalance may result in a lack of confidence, making it harder to feel confident approaching and connecting to others. Alternatively, an excess of energy heat may make it harder to be approachable, appearing overconfident/egotistical.

Adora added, “An imbalanced solar plexus chakra can also cause power struggles in a romantic relationship. If the chakra is overactive, for example, the person will feel the need to dominate their partner and their relationship. Similarly, the person with a blocked solar plexus chakra will shrink back.”

Heart Chakra
The heart chakra’s function is all about love – It governs our ability to give and receive love both to others and ourselves. If the heart chakra becomes unbalanced, you may feel detached from the world around you, disconnected from the people we love, love for ourselves, and love for the earth. In relationships, it can appear as a lack of self-love or difficulty connecting to those around us in friendships or more intimate relationships.

Throat Chakra
The throat chakra relates, unsurprisingly, to our self-expression. Our confidence in speaking our truth and saying what needs to be said. If there’s an imbalance, you may find yourself suppressing your feelings and not voicing them or finding it hard to communicate your needs with your partner. It can also show up as an inability to listen to others and dominate a conversation. A balanced throat chakra clears the way for honest, open conversations – essential to a healthy relationship.

Third Eye Chakra
Adora said, “The essence of third eye chakra is seeing the truth both of others and ourselves.”

The third eye chakra is associated with our intuition and being able to trust our inner guidance. If there is an imbalance then inner guidance may be hard to follow, making it hard to trust your judgment or follow a work and/or life path that is feeling unfulfilling as you haven’t embraced your soul’s path. This can ripple out into feeling uncertain about connections in relationships or the unfulfillment from your choices are unable to connect to and use our intuition we can struggle to feel fulfilled, unable to fulfill our true path without our inner wisdom guiding us. This can impact our relationships with our dissatisfaction with life spilling into our integrations with loved ones or feeling unable to trust our instincts, perhaps feeling uncertain about trusting our connection.

Crown Chakra
Our crown chakra is about feeling connected to a higher power. This connection can bring a deep inner peace but when lacking we may feel a sense of disconnection from the world and find it hard to find our place. This sense of disconnection can spill into finding it difficult to “find our people” and feel fully at peace. We first need to feel this sense of peace and belonging before we can truly relax at ease in our relationships, knowing we are safe regardless.
