It’s no wonder Léon Breitling would make some of the most desired watches in the world. It all started in 1860 when Léon was born. From a young age, he was interested in watches. By the time he was a teenager, he worked as an apprentice where he learned about watchmaking. By 1884, he opened his own business, G Léon Breitling in St Imier, Switzerland. Following his passion, he continued to strive for excellence in creating accurate timepieces that would spread to a great multitude of uses.
Léon began creating measuring tools and timepieces in a time when military, industrial and scientific applications were very much needed. Léon was an innovator in creating a chronograph that was able to compete with and surpass its competitors' chronographs because of its features. Léon was granted a patent for this chronograph watch in 1889, which was less complicated, easier to maintain, and less bulky than his competitors’ watches. Also, it was easier to maintain. He received a reward for this watch.
When Léon moved his shop in 1892, the company was renamed “Leon G. Breitling Montbrillant SA Watch Factory.” This was when production took off. In 1893, Léon created a timepiece that could be powered for eight days. By 1896, Léon increased in accuracy and sold 100,000 stopwatches and chronographs. Léon also created a timer that could record speeds between 15 and 150km/h called “Vitesse.” If you are looking to buy preowned Breitling watch, visit this website.
Léon passed away in 1914. His son, Gaston, took over the family business. The business stayed in the family until 1979 when it was sold. The company has changed hands a few times, but the quality of Breitling watches remains. Today, Breitling watches are still in high demand. You too can purchase a beautiful preowned Breitling watch.
