Hinkley Point C Nuclear Power Station Set To Become UK's Largest Nuclear Power Project

Highlights
Hinkley Point C Nuclear Power Station will be one of Britain's largest nuclear power plants.
It will foster long-term economic growth in Britain by creating more than 25000 employment opportunities and managing 64% construction value.
This massive power plant significantly impacts the environment by supplying low-carbon electricity to over 6 million homes.
This project is the first nuclear power plant constructed in Europe since the Fukushima tragedy in Japan in 2011.

Introduction
Hinkley Point C in Somerset is the first brand-new nuclear power plant built in the United Kingdom in more than 20 years. This project would supply low-carbon electricity to almost 6 million homes, generate thousands of jobs, and have a long-term positive impact on the UK economy.

Hinkley Point C will provide 25,000 job opportunities during building and operation and up to 1,000 apprenticeships. It is anticipated that UK businesses would get 64% of the project's construction value.

Hinkley Point C will significantly aid the UK's efforts to cut carbon emissions. Throughout its 60-year lifespan, the power produced by its two EPR (European Pressurized Water Reactors) reactors will offset 600 million tons of CO2 emissions annually.
