This is much less likely to happen if you are successfully sneaking while stealing; the chance of being detected depends on the total weight of stolen items and your Sneak level. You can obtain cash by making in-app purchases, completing MTAC missions, or by receiving it as rewards for new ranks and levels. Cash can be used to purchase resources, amplifiers and unlock content.
