This mod requires an original copy of the game. It will work on all game versions (vanilla, patch1 and 2, Gold, Steam) and it's also backwards compatible to any prior version of UniMod . Note: this mod is not guaranteed to work with other mods nor pirated copies of the game.

STEP-3 Update : Download the update to v3.90 ( 19.1 Mb ). Run the file and specify where the game is installed.
Optional mod: Post-apocalypse screens ( 7.2 Mb ): This mod allows you to have 50 additional post-apocalypse pictures for the loading screen on w >GF-UniMod v3.70 (or higher). After the installation you can choose to use the new loading screen pictures in the mod options.
Installation instructions for GF-UniMod (v3.93)
Editor of the tactical maps ( 0 kb ) This tool designed both for editing and for creation of maps for tactical missions. Since the version 3.90 there is no necessity to download the map editor separately because it's included into the installation package of this version. But editor doesn't install by itself, so if you desire to have it, run this one file: GAME_FOLDER/data/xtensions/mapeditor/scripts/install.bat This package might be installed both in a full version (all 18 map types – it will have need of 5.5 Gb on HDD to unpack sources) and in demo version (the maps "CAF base" and "Desert" only – it will need of 0.7 Gb of HDD space). Also you can to learn user's manual ( 893 kb ). Currently supported languages are: Russian, English and German.
STEP-1 Sprite converter : Download this small file ( 336 kb ). Run the file and specify where the game is installed. When extracting will be finished the program will ask you about conversion of the game sprites. Agree with it by pressing "OK" button and wait till it will be finished. Ignore the rest of this application and close it. These extra mods will be overwritten in the next step and don't affect the game.

Optional mod: Space loading screens ( 12.1 Mb ): As the name says this mod allow you to use 65 additional space pictures for the loading screen on standard monitors . It can be installed on GF-UniMod v3.70 (or higher). After the installation you can choose this set of loading screens inside of the mod options menu.
Optional mod: Recoloured armour ( 5.9 Mb ): If you liked the recoloured BK2 armour of Bman's EoU , this mod has been created for you. It can be installed on GF-UniMod v3.50 (or higher). After the installation you can choose if you would like to use the old or new colours of the armour in the mod options menu.
Optional mod: Enhanced X-Com sprites ( 6.6 Mb ): This mod contains improved sprites for old aliens from the original X-Com. It can be installed on GF-UniMod v3.50 (or higher).
STEP-4 Patch : Download the latest patch up to v3.93 ( 14.0 Mb ). Run the file and specify where the game is installed.
STEP-5 Hotfix : Download the last hotfix (sn#003) for v3.93 ( 320 kb ). Run the file and specify where the game is installed.
Optional mod: Space loading screens ( 4.6 Mb ): As the name says this mod allow you to use 50 additional space pictures for the loading screen on w >GF-UniMod v3.70 (or higher). After the installation you can choose this set of loading screens inside of the mod options menu.
Optional mod: Abstract loading screens ( 11.9 Mb ): This mod allows you to have 50 additional pictures (genre: abstract art) for the loading screen on standard monitors . It can be installed on GF-UniMod v3.70 (or higher). After the installation you can choose to use the new loading screen pictures in the mod options.
STEP-2 Main Pack : Download the main package of GF-UniMod v3.50 ( 42.1 Mb ). Run the file and specify where the game is installed.
Generator of the tactical maps ( 19.2 Mb ) This package might be installed on version 3.83 or higher. It contains an advanced generator of the maps for tactical missions that uses randomized choosing of the parts of these maps as well as supports the maps of larger size than it was possible in the original game.
