How do I know if I need the PowerPoint Viewer Software?

Because Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer is meant solely for viewing PowerPoint files, it is not possible to edit or save data within the program. If changes need to be made, they must be made in Microsoft PowerPoint.

Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer is a program created by Microsoft strictly for viewing PowerPoint documents. The PowerPoint Viewer supports PowerPoint 97 and later versions. DataLyzer® Spectrum allows users to attach files to each characteristic for use as measuring instructions. The types of files supported are .ppt. Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer must be used to view these files. We recommend reading this entire application note before implementing the PowerPoint Viewer.

DataLyzer® Spectrum Application Note.
Insert your DataLyzer® Spectrum installation CD into the CD-ROM drive. Select “Browse CD Contents” from the main menu. Open the “CD Tools” folder. In this folder, double click the shortcut file named “ppviewer”.
DataLyzer® should be able to use the viewer from the default installation location, however, in other countries the viewers can be installed in different default locations. If the viewer does not work properly for you outside the U.S., you must go to the “paths” tab under SETUP/SYSTEM DEFINITIONS in Spectrum. Enter the path where the PowerPoint Viewer is installed in the associated path field.

Limitations.
DataLyzer® will access the PowerPoint Viewer itself when necessary. Once PowerPoint Viewer is installed, DataLyzer® Spectrum will be able to open Microsoft PowerPoint documents. Note: there may be a slight time delay (1-4 seconds) depending on your hardware, while DataLyzer® loads the PowerPoint Viewer and displays the document.
