Gustavo Petro won the Historic Pact with Lights and Shadows

The candidate Gustavo Petro confirmed on Sunday the favoritism that the polls have been indicating for several weeks.

Former Senator of the Republic and former mayor of Bogota managed to win the victory in the Historic Pact coalition. Officially as of now, he's a candidate to the Presidency which he hopes to win three times.

His strong vote at the meeting makes him the most representative of the Colombian Left and a solid candidate for the presidency, despite the fact that his ideas and proposals are controversial across multiple fronts, including the economic one.

Petro declared his intention to alter pensions through the establishment of a public administrator for pension funds. https://www.eluniversal.com.co/temas/-/meta/gustavo-petro plans to create an investment system which is "mixed-and-complementary" and private fund.

According to Petro, there is no pension system in Colombia. However banks make profits. Many have said that Petro would eliminate any possibility of being elected as president. However, Petro recently said that the government would not end pensions but would pursue reforms to pensions to ensure a minimum pension for Colombians. He also said there was "no need" for an increase in the age of retirement.

Another controversial issue is the fact that he repeatedly promised that he will stop extraction of oil the moment he takes office as president, which has caused uncertainty among investors as well as the general market.

Experts estimate that Petro's proposal to stop exploration of oil in Colombia could result in a bill around $4.3 billion.

This plan includes the establishment of an anti-oil front both in the region and the world , which will move the economy away from fossil fuels. http://www.secretariasenado.gov.co/senadores/53-senadores-2018-2022... would like to invite Gabriel Boric to Chile and LuizInacio Lula de Silva to join me.

https://www.portafolio.co/elecciones-2022/gustavo-petro-ganador-del... has said that he spoke with the Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sanchez, about his plan.

His attitude towards health issues has been also controversial. He has been insistent about the end of EPS in order to replace it with a preventive model that "guarantees all rights of people and not the financial gains of banksters".

There were also questions raised regarding the legitimacy and independence of the Banco de la Republica.

Petro asserts that the Bank's Board of Directors is part of a political party called the Democratic Center. Therefore, https://www.camara.gov.co/gustavo-petro-urrego says, "What we want" is a true independent Bank of the Republic (...). The candidate made this in the middle of an debate.

Invamer claims that Petro has the presidency's in voting intentions.

The idea of releasing cash to fund spending by the government was also controversial.

Petro's ideas include an economy that is not dependent on mining and extraction of hydrocarbons, in addition to a more prominent role for agriculture.

It is also mentioned that he will introduce a tax reform that would remove exemptions and transform minimum wage concepts into real wages that are based upon the income and capital.
