Guide To Fix Brother hl-l2320d wireless setup

Brother hl-l2320d wireless Printer setup

So you’ve just bought a new Brother printer and now you want to connect it to your wi-fi network. Don’t fret, we’ve put together a simple tutorial on how to connect a Brother printer to wifi to make your life a little easier. No matter what type of computer you use, you should be able to set your brother machine up on your wireless network by the end of the instructions.
Determine Your Wireless Settings
Before you can connect a Brother printer to your wifi network, you’ll need to know all of your wireless settings. The things you will need to know before getting started are:
· Network Name (also known as “SSID” or “ESSID”)
· Network Password (also known as “Network Key”, “Security Key”, or “Encryption Key”)
If you’re unsure how to find this information, the first place you should look is on the side of your router. In most cases, these details will be on a sticker on your router. If not there, check your router’s documentation for how to get to this information via a browser.
Once you have your network information handy, you can begin connecting your Brother printer to your wireless network.
Wireless Direct Setup
The first option you can try is called a wireless direct setup. Wireless Direct lets you connect your printer to your computer or smartphone directly without a Wi-Fi access point or router. In this case, the Brother printer essentially serves as a Wi-Fi access point. To use this method follow these steps:
For Windows PCs
1. Confirm the Wireless Direct settings of the printer.
2. Connect the printer and computer with a USB cable.
3. Start the Printer Setting Tool on your computer and click the “Communication Settings” button.
4. Confirm that “Wireless Direct” is selected for “Selected Interface” in the “General” tab.
5. Press and hold the Wi-Fi button on your printer for one second to turn the Wi-Fi function on.
6. Use your computer or mobile device to select the SSID of your printer and enter the password.
7. When the connection is established, the Wi-Fi (Wi-Fi) indicator lights in blue.
For Mac
1. Confirm the Wireless Direct settings of the printer.
2. Connect the printer and computer with a USB cable.
3. Start the Printer Setting Tool on your computer
4. Confirm that “WirelessDirect” is set to “On” in the “Wireless LAN” tab
Be careful not to hold the Wi-Fi button for too long. If you hold it for five seconds or more, the printer will enter the WPS mode and any connection using Wireless Direct will fail.
You should also know that you can’t connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi while using Wireless Direct. To use the Internet, use a wired connection (when a computer is connected), or connect using Infrastructure Mode.
Infrastructure Mode Setup
Infrastructure Mode allows you to connect the printer to a computer or mobile device via a Wi-Fi access point or a router. To connect using infrastructure mode, follow these steps:
For Windows PCs
1. Connect the printer and computer with a USB cable.
2. Press and hold the Wi-Fi button on your printer for one second to turn the Wi-Fi function on. The Wi-Fi indicator should start flashing in blue once every three seconds.
3. Start the Printer Setting Tool on your computer, and click the “Communication Settings” button.
4. Select “Wireless LAN” for “Selected Interface” in the “General” tab, and select “Infrastructure” for “Communication Mode” in “Wireless Settings” in the “Wireless LAN” tab.
5. Enter the SSID that you wrote down, or Click “Search” and select the SSID from the displayed list.
6. Enter the password as “Passphrase”.
7. Click the “Apply” button.
For Mac
1. Connect the Brother printer and computer with a USB cable.
2. Press and hold the Wi-Fi button on your printer for one second to turn the Wi-Fi function on. The Wi-Fi indicator should start flashing in blue once every three seconds.
3. Start the Wireless Device Setup Wizard included in the Printer Driver Package, and then follow the on-screen instructions.
4. If you have not downloaded the Printer Driver Package, visit the page to download the package.
5. Double-click the downloaded file. The Wireless Device Setup Wizard can be found in the “Utilities” folder.
6. Enter the SSID that you wrote down, or Click “Search” and select the SSID from the displayed list.
7. Enter the password as “Passphrase”.
8. Click the “Apply” button.
When the connection between the printer and your Wi-Fi access point/router is established, the Wi-Fi (Wi-Fi) indicator lights in blue. Computers and mobile devices that are on the same network as the printer will have access to the printer.
WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup™)
One of the easiest ways to get set up is by using the WPS method. If your Wi-Fi access point or router supports WPS, you can follow these instructions:
1. Confirm that your Wi-Fi access point/router has the WPS symbol.
2. Place your printer within the range of your Wi-Fi access point/router. The range may differ depending on your environment.
3. Press the WPS button on your Wi-Fi access point/router, and press and hold the Wi-Fi button on the printer for about five seconds.
4. The Wi-Fi (Wi-Fi) indicator on the printer flashes in blue once every second.
5. When the connection is established, the Wi-Fi (Wi-Fi) indicator lights in blue.
6. Computers and mobile devices that are on the same network as the printer will have access to the printer.
Be aware, your printer will try to connect using WPS for two minutes. If the Wi-Fi (Wi-Fi) button is held down for another five seconds during that time, the printer will continue trying to connect for an additional two minutes.
