You can blame Jane Fonda in her little leotard, Richard Simmons and his little shorts, or even your P.E. teacher for making us think that there are certain clothes that you must wear to workout. But they were wrong about that, just like they thought that step aerobics was not an exercise trend and would continue into the millennium. To have cute workout clothes, your attire does not actually have to be real workout clothing that you maxed out your American Express at Lululemon for. You probably have these items in your closet right now, and they would like to be invited to your next workout. graphic workout t shirts

To have cute workout clothes, you need t-shirts. We all have t-shirts. Lots of them. You probably have cute graphic tees that you wear all the time. You might have solid color ones, striped ones, polka dot ones, or even ones that say, "Have a nice day." These stylish t-shirts of yours can actually make an appearance at the gym or even work as a cover-up that you put on when you enter and exit the gym. You'll be stylish while you wait for the next available treadmill.

Another great warm-up and cover-up item is a great V-neck sweater to use for layering. When you head into the Zumba studio, are you a little cold? Does it take a while for you to warm up and build up a sweat while listening to the overly enthusiastic instructor's cues? A sweater is a great, stylish layering addition to any workout outfit. Just pull it off when you start to get to warm or need to grab your first sip of water.

Does your gym bag have to look like a drab, utilitarian, Cold War-era gym bag of a Russian Olympic gymnast? No, it does not. The Cold War is over. The Iron Curtain fell, and now, you can have a gym bag with some style to add to your stockpile of cute workout clothes. Again, it doesn't have to be an actual gym bag. A stylish alternative is a piece of luggage known as the weekender bag. There are so many stylish options available, and they come with many compartments, so it is still extremely utilitarian. However, you will score a 10, 10, 10 - even from the Russian judge - with this bag.

Leggings have made their way to the gym, but what about your tights? If you have footless tights, you can wear them under shorts to look like a ballerina and channel your inner black swan. The other benefit is that the tights hold everything together so that you are more ballerina than beluga whale blubber.

Cute workout clothes are literally a step away in your closet. By intermixing pieces from your non-workout wardrobe, you'll be a stylish standout at the yoga studio, cultish CrossFit gym, or watching a workout home video on your couch (hey, at least you hit the play button).
