"Googas" is an American 5-minute live action short film with the title characters being animated though. The 4 cast members in here are all also credited as writers and directors. The most known is probably the one associated with Rick & Morty these days, but I cannot say I know any from the quartet. And from what I saw here, I don't really want to either because this was not a good watch by any means. It looked fairly amateurish early on, which would have been a pity, but tolerable if the film had oozed creativity or wit otherwise. But it didn't. Not at all. Especially the take on comedy (which is really the only take on anything) comes extremely short. The alien creatures don't add anything at all. And packing the film with references to alien cult classics does not make it one of these. It sure takes a special lack of talent to turn a 5-minute film into something that can be described as quantity over quality, but they did it. I guess that is all. A look at the other reviews here (and at the rating) makes it easy to see how some are trying to build it into a cult classic, but there is zero potential to it with that regard and in my opinion it was so bad that it should be entirely forgotten. The moment it really hits rock-bottom is when the cast (and crew) are almost begging near the end for somebody to turn this into a recurring series. Luckily it never happened. And luckily it was this short. Highly not recommended.
I've gone on plenty of crazy rides in my day. Kings Island, Six Flags, the works. Never in my life have I experienced a thrill ride as awe inspiring as 'Googas.' The acting is incredible. The visual effects are mind-blowing. The extraordinary stakes left my fingernails grizzled and short. I will never be the same after witnessing this impeccable art and intriguing morals placed within this masterpiece.

The story starts out with a very realistic premise. Four young adults are moving into their parents, who have recently passed away. They seem to have a very healthy relationship with one another, all until Justin (Justin Roiland) finds a mysterious sign. He reads off the ancient Latin and recites it, much to his siblings' dismay. This is where the viewer first sees the mysterious Googas, as named by Justin. From here and on the siblings are at a constant flux of anger and mistrust, their familial balance in great danger. Will the happy group fall apart? Will they defeat the Googas and live happily ever after?

The actors do an incredible job at portraying their unique characters and displaying a wild spectrum of emotion. Dan (Dan) bravely portrays the leader of the family, wanting what is best for the family. Justin portrays the go lucky brother that wishes to give the Googas a chance to show they're good. Myke (Myke) is a boy who wishes to keep the family together and protect the love. Kelsy (Kelsy) is a strong female character that holds her ground and isn't afraid to show a little sass. When Justin and Dan clash, you can feel that sibling rivalry in your heart. You feel an inner conflict within your heart that cannot be ignored.

Myke risks it all to find out if the Googas are good at all and is attacked, and it is gut wrenching. At this point Myke's character has been built upon greatly, and the viewer feels as if they have known these siblings their whole life. It really takes your hand and pulls you even further into the story.

One of the most touching moments of the story is when the siblings watch movies together and the tear between them all is woven together with laughs and various movie clips. Montages are usually used to pass the time quickly and show progression within the plot. The creators used this perfectly whilst still keeping the viewer intrigued and informed.

After a brief argument between Justin and Dan, a Googa busts out of Myke's chest, killing him. Inspired by their loved brother's death, Dan and Justin bust down the front door of the Googas' new headquarters and an intense action scene commences. Incredible gunshot sound effects are thrown here and there perfectly, the sound mixing is absolutely incredible. I've never heard anything like it.

Following the incredible blood bath (and a memorable line!) Dan, Justin and Kelsy all wonder what life will be like since they've defeated the Googas. They mourn Mykes death, but are suddenly interrupted by a sudden Googa appearance! He exclaims, "Hey, who wants to play some cards?" brings Myke back to life and lets out a toot. Everyone lives happily ever after, as a party of five.

Filled with intense action, sci-fi effects and beautiful acting, "Googas" is a spectacular movie. I cried. My heart raced. I was completely and utterly moved. Please do yourself a favor and watch this film. Buy it on Blu-Ray. Be changed.
