Gets old fast. Not to my tastes I guess.. if you like puzzle games then you will like this game. i throughly enjoy it myself and have gotten stumped on a few levels. the visuals are bright and fun and the music is good as well.. 5/10 It has very unique art style and it's a nice concept. They put some good effort into making it a bit more than just a puzzle game with the movie scenes in between. However, the movies aren't really that exciting, engaging, or interesting. The puzzles are varied and are pretty interesting with the different mechanics in there. However the controls add an angle of "put it all in the right order" and sometimes it's also mandatory which make it more frustrating than fun as a puzzle game. It feels like there's very little control when you ARE able to put any of the pieces down but can only undo the last move and can't move already-placed pieces. It adds more and more mechanics with differnet pieces over time which keeps it fresh but the lack of control mentioned above makes it feel punishing for not being able to learn things quickly. Overall it started off okay fun, but slowly just became more and more boring and frustrating to try and figure out. It felt like I needed to just plan it out on paper and then test it all at once, instead of being able to puzzle-solve in the game itself, which makes it fail on an engagement level. I dropped this after the 1st act (out of 3) after I couldn't handle it piling on more things with its poor controls. Recommended only to try it for a few tries, but not long term.. While it seems simple at first, the puzzles get increasingly compex. I relly enjoy it, and thought it was worth the price.. I just finished Girls Like Robots after 10 hours of gameplay and there is still more to do as I have not played through the bonus levels or achieved perfect scores on all main levels. It is the perfect game when in the mood for relaxing and casual puzzles. What to love about Girls LIke Robots: The humor! The storyline and narrative is wonderfully silly. The art. It is unique, creative, and calming. The music. It is relaxing, playful, and fits perfect with the art and overall style of the game. As for the gameplay. the puzzles are fun and are not too repetitive, they are challenging if trying to get a perfect score but if not you can get through the levels pretty easily on the first or second try.. This is a great puzzle game.. First playthrough time: 8 hours Major Pros: Clean graphics Easy to use in game interface Diversity in mechanics, level goals, and styles Good bonus content (Nerd Drop is a great time waster) Game had a good sense of humor Minor Pros: Seals are adorable Customizable icons Keeps track of solution "prefectness" for perfectionist players Major Cons: Relied too much on basic gameplay (aka what you learned in the intro) Didn't take enough advantage of most unique level designs (aka used about 3 times and then never again) Minor Cons: Story was silly and made no sense (but matched the theme of the game) Level select when you came back to the game was sometimes unclear where you left off I hate banjo music All together not a hard puzzle game unless you want to go for perfect on all the levels, but cute graphics and some interesting level designs make the game fun. The whole thing is fairly long for a puzzle game, but can be picked up and put down easily. The biggest thing I'd say it suffered from was some overuse of the basic Girl / Nerd / Robot interaction and not enough exploration of some of the other concepts and level designs that the game put forth, like shooting giant insects.. A small puzzle game with an absolutely amazing art aesthetic and folksy soundtrack. Gameplay is "put these things in the best order" with lots of alternate tiles and rulesets to always keep the player engaged. This is absolutely worth the asking price and I recommend it to anybody who enjoys puzzle or casual games.
