Steve Jones

During his time in the Sex Pistols, guitarist Steve Jones was an important part of their music. He helped them create some of their best songs, like "Anarchy in the UK." The band's influence can be seen in everything from rock 'n' roll to fashion and art.

Originally from Shepherd's Bush in London, England, Steve Jones was raised by his mother and stepfather in Hammersmith. He was sexually abused and functionally illiterate, leading him to steal everything he could find to make ends meet.

While in school, Jones formed a band with his friend Paul Cook. They started to play covers of bands such as the Faces, T. Rex and New York Dolls, which influenced their music.

When they met Malcolm McLaren at his and Vivienne Westwood's King Road boutique SEX, the band evolved into one of the most influential rock groups of all time. They were also the first punk band to be financed by a major record label, a move that changed the face of British culture and inspired generations of musicians, designers and entrepreneurs.

In his autobiography, Lonely Boy, Steve Jones reveals how he became the iconic guitar player of the Sex Pistols and what made them tick. He writes about how the group was founded, their early years and his struggles with alcohol and drug addictions.

Jones’s life was a tumultuous one and his story is not an easy read. But he tells it with a straight face and honesty that is refreshing, especially given the fact that he has always had a very dark side to him.

As the '60s rolled into the '70s, Jones became a self-described 'one-man crime wave', stealing anything he could get his hands on, often ending up in jail. In an interview, he said that 'putting one over on Old Bill was the ultimate excitement'.

Later on, he was convicted of 14 criminal offenses. Then, in the '80s, he landed a job as an LA radio personality and got sober.

He has also branched out into acting and he was recently cast as Krull in Californication season six. He has also devoted a lot of time to writing and recording his own music.
Sid Vicious

Sid Vicious was one of the most iconic members of the Sex Pistols. His sexy looks, charismatic presence, and fearless attitude made him a hero to many young people in the early 70s. He was a self-destructive alcoholic and drug user who killed his girlfriend Nancy Spungen. He also engaged in a number of self-mutilating acts on the band’s 1978 tour.

After the departure of Glen Matlock in February 1977, Johnny Rotten suggested that Vicious be given the job of replacing him. As a new member, Vicious gained instant popularity and quickly became a star; he even created a dance tabbed the “pogo.”

But after his stint with the band ended, Vicious began to fall apart. He had been a victim of Spungen’s manipulative, unstable nature and a heroin addiction, and he was also suffering from an uncontrollable urge to hit.

Eventually, he committed suicide in his own home. He was a recovering addict and had taken heroin a few weeks earlier.

His mother found him dead and he was cremated in New York, not buried with Nancy. The ashes were later scattered over her grave.

It was a painful and confusing time for Vicious, who was struggling with the loss of his girlfriend and his relationship with the band. His friends urged him to seek professional help, but he was too stubborn.

In the end, he was able to stay clean for seven weeks before his death. But even then, the tragedy was too much for him to handle. He was too naive and too intoxicated to realize the extent of his own demise. Nevertheless, he did what any naive and intoxicated punk might have done: take the chance to end his life.
Johnny Rotten

John Lydon, also known as Johnny Rotten, was the singer of the famous British punk band Sex Pistols. He was part of the band from 1975 to 1978 and was a major influence on British rock music during the 1970s.
