So, I was excited to watch the movie and movie started.
First half : For the first half there was nothing but the character development. Most of the time the director captured the downfall of Gotham, corruption & poor vs rich. Side by side Arthur Fleck is on the edge to be joker. He is facing a lot of mental pressure. It's shown that he's facing a tough time professional and personal. Nobody cares about him and he is upset by that, he challenged for his existence by himself. The screen play is really slow to be honest. It's good to give time for character development but screen play makes it all look slow and sleepy.
Second half : the movie is now building up, the character around Arthur comes into play and he's turning towards becoming The violent Joker, not the Joker we know. He's just have a feel of revenge rage towards society and blame them for his failure. And movie continue to build up towards a predictable ending sequence.
Performance : Phoenix was good in terms of the role he was given. He did it well, played the role of a person who is empty painful, raw & violent from inside. He did that part well, but here's a catch comparing it to Ledger's performance is not right because Ledger lived the Real Joker. The Phoneix lived the Arthur Fleck (Pre Joker. Also he did a good job in creating his version of Joker laugh. Try to hear it by closing eyes, you'll definitely feel his pain in his laugh.
Cinematography : Cinematography was good, some shots are captured too good. Like the staircase scene captured multiple time. It was beautiful shot. And colours are shown beautifully.
Direction : It was good, not the best it could have been better. I felt like Todd was trying to recreate Dark Night like feel, but it his attempt was okay not too good nor too bad.
Background : It was nice, at the start you'll like it but in between it was unnecessary. Used too much which make one's sleepy in first half.
Conclusion : it was a okay movie, one time watch for the Phoenix performance and a bit of direction. The movie is not dark but violent. Dark is acceptable to a certain extent but violence was kind a extreme. Be responsible while watching it, and learn a lesson that never ever try to be Joker.
Personal Experience : One thing bothered me at theatre was, people were applauding and laughing at the violence Joker commits which made me feel to come to a harsh thought.
