While Bubbles tries to decide whether to take Blossom or Buttercup to a concert, the girls head to Monster Island to rescue the Mayor.
A lot of people compare this episode to MLP: FiM´s "The Ticket Master" due to both of them display the same "limited amount of something" plot-line on a early stage of the show. The reason of why It worked on MLP it´s because the writters stablished on early episodes (the 2 parts debut) who the characters are and their traits, giving us some time to empathize with them, by that, we could relate to their motives of wanting the said-so ticket (here we got a solid first act for the episode and we can get right to the plot), PPG 2016, on the other hand, used this as a first episode, they "introduced" us to the girls like the audience already knew who they are (here is where the "REBOOT" part fails), and even though, in the first 2 minutes of the episode the girls feel out of character, acting nothing like the ones of the original show (here is where the "FRANCHISE" part fails). Getting back to MLP, they developed the episode with a phasing that let us (the audience) enjoy each one of Twilight´s friends trying to get the ticket by appeling to Twilight on their own way (which is funny and kind-of develops even more the characters relation, people watching feel invested on these characters), going back once again to PPG 2016, Blossom and Buttercup tries to be nice to Bubbles to get the ticket, the problem is: by the fact we don´t get introduced to this characters (and they aren´t like the ones we already knew) on a first place, it´s hard to feel atached to any of them and picking a side, also, which make harder to feel empathy for them is the fact that Blossom and Buttercup keeps atacking each other on their attemps to convince Bubbles "who gets the ticket" (So, by far we know that Bubbles got no personality and both Blossom and Buttercup are mean and materialist), another big contrast between each show second act. In the end (the third act), MLP settled the problem down in a way that audience both feel satisfied with it and the lessons in the end is displayed nicely (and also, this leads to the start of a story arc for the rest of the season), while PPG 2016, decided to use a moral at the end that just felt rushed (the episode never built the plot up to it) being incorporated to a "plot-twist" that doesn´t add anything to the story telling.

In conclusion, This is the perfect definition on how "NOT to start a story"
