Bran and Mera arrive at castle black. Jon and Sansa plan the defense against the long night. Cersei forges new alliances. Samwell trains to be a maester. Arya gets her revenge. The Hound takes shelter in a familiar place. Daenerys arrives at Westeros.
Jon organizes the North's defenses. Cersei tries to even the odds. Daenerys comes home. Arya reminds the Freys "the North remembers." Sam adapts to life in Oldtown. The Night King makes his way south.
The world eagerly anticipated the start of season 7 of this great show and it's fair to say it didn't disappoint.

Game of Thrones eased its way into season 7 by laying the groundwork for what's to come. While we saw the major players in their own realms or worlds it was nice to see other notable characters such as the Hound and the Lord of Light crew and Sam Tully as the aspiring Maester. The show runners showed us the vast and interesting universe of GOT and how almost every character in this show has added value and intrigue to the show. While we start to build up to epic moments in the season it is nice to see the lives and stories of other characters.

Jon Snow and Cersei had acknowledged each others existence and positions as well as being aware of Daenerys. Some scenes stood out such as Daenerys arrived at Dragonstone and felt the sand and the scene with the Wight Walkers marching forward and not a single word was needed to capture its intensity. A truly great start that is gearing up to some significant events. I'm not sure what the producers are thinking with this premiere. With only 7 episodes this season, I full expected the show to get straight into moving the plot forward every single episode. Yet, with only 13 episodes for the entire show left, the writers and producers have seen fit to basically waste 57 minutes with....nothing much at all really. Dany got to Dragonstone (surprise surprise), but that moment was squeezed into the last 6 minutes and was totally underwhelming. Jorah is prisoner at the Citadel, and that's about the only surprising and original part of the episode.

Every scene is overly long to achieve almost nothing to move the plot forward. It's basically a 57 minute recap of where we left off in S06E10.

My immediate response was (to the producers) "We've come this far - don't screw it up now!"

This premiere certainly doesn't bode well for the remainder of the show.
