Top 10 albums by consecutive weeks at #1.
I'm really glad you like "Rддkimata lood"! And thanks for the tip about Kensington, I'll check them out!
Ah okay. haha, i hate it when i put my stuff on shuffle and the worst song from an album gets played, so i can completely understand you there. As for the year-end charts, i think that's a great way of listening to it and it wouldn't make sense to skip a track there. Plus, i think the chances for a weak/bad song to be there are small, as songs on that list are usually the ones you really like(d).
Hey very nice. There is a dutch record in your single chart. I didn't know this artist Eveline Canoot by the way. She is probably from Belgium. How do you find these artists. Als in your charts archive I find a lot of artists who are really new for me. Very different than regular "Hitlisten". Great.
There are more dutch artists who are really great. But I also can enjoy music en songs even when I don't understand the lyrics. Liked for example your number one of the single charts this week in the original language. May I give you one tip for a really good dutch band? The are called Kensington. Great song of them is "Streets". It's a kind of U2-sound.

What a week! Chelsea Lankes, who (especially two weeks ago) looked doomed to just having the strongest non-#1 song of the year, finally becomes #1. 16-year-old singer Kaya Stewart (daughter of Dave Stewart), debuts with three songs in the top 7, and two songs with the same title, in German , enter the chart!
^ Thanks for the translation! Yeah, she's from Belgium. I actually knew that even before I listened because the genre info was "classic belgian pop". I also googled her name after I heard the song. I haven't yet listened to her other music but plan to do so.
EP cover for the new #1.
True. But i really thought it just came out somehow, cause i also connect this album with your charts somehow, and i thought i've just seen her debuting on your charts with that album not that long ago. Guess the time is just going on too fast. That's an interesting way with connecting the music with your life. I have some connections like these as well, the 'biggest' connection so far are the vacations. For example Ellie's "Delirium" came out when i was on the Philippines last year so i often think of these vacations when i listen to the album which makes listening to it even sweeter.

Geweldig.
Very well! You did understand what I wrote. The excact translation of what I wrote is:
I hope you will find some new ones that you like when those continue to freefall. "Nirvana" should have a pretty good chance of stabilizing and climbing again though but I have a feeling competition will be unusually tough the next few weeks.

I'm impressed that you listened to all of them! (Technically not all songs on my chart are singles , but I think you already knew that.) And I'm very glad you like so many of them, especially the entire top 10 except "Raju reede" (which is quite understandable ).
Interesting. Yeah, from the low number of plays in Spotify and on YouTube I figured she wasn't well known. Most (all?) of her other songs were in English but covers which I'm usually not that interested in. I haven't heard of Laura, will add her to my list of artists to check out some time.

Well it's very important to me, so i want to take the time to write all the comments.
Hillary Scott's stability is definitely interesting to watch, as it only peaked at #6 and already charts for ten weeks. Kinda surprised Britt Nicole isn't doing better, and while i never heard it (so far), i'm also surprised to see Sabrina Carpenter's album that low. Other than that, i still like the entries by Cappa, Selena Gomez, Carly Rae Jepsen, Maren Morris, Jason Aldean, and obviously also the re-entry for Carrie.
Thanks for commenting, Tansike and Speedy!

Thanks for your detailed explanation. I have immediately created an account at Last.FM and linked Spotify already there. I think it would be super useful if you can make your own programs. I can cope well with Access and Excel and in it I keep tracking a lot of charts, but that's not the same as making your own chart. I think if I could do the same I've at least put the information from the numbers of plays (according then to Last.FM) in Excel or Access and then with some formules count wich is number one etc.
I'm glad you listened to it! I like all five tracks, although unfortunately "In Farbe" is my least favourite :(. "Verlernt" is my clear favourite, then it's close between "Stadt im Hinterland" and "Waldbrand", then a small gap to "Ich wache auf" and another slightly bigger gap to "In Farbe".
Thanks a lot for answering all my questions. It's clear to me how you do your scores for the charts. I've still to decide what I do for my own chart. But if I don't use any rules it would end up a complete list of music from Frank Boeijen (I really admire this singer for his work since I became a fan a long time ago). First song of his I really liked was "De Verzoening" (the reconciliation), but his biggest hits were "Kronenburg park" and "Zwart wit" (black white, a song against racism) and later "Zeg me dat het niet zo is" (Say it isn't so, a song about someone who died and is really been missed). So I play his music a lot and it would be a boring hitlist. So I will not to that. For the past year I listen a lot to german schlagermusic. I could call it my german Top 10.
I was surprised myself that it got to #1 again this week (at least in the sense that I would have been surprised a few weeks ago if someone had told me it would happen). I would have been less surprised to see it happen in April or May, but of course it also depends on how other albums are doing at the time.
Yeah, I plan the day so that I will be able to do that. Well, 200 plays in a single day is actually just around my average, but some planning is still needed because I like to listen (especially the top 30) much louder than usual and I don't like to do that late at night (although now that I have my own house I probably could, but it would still feel a bit weird). So I need to start relatively early, usually around 9 o'clock. 1st January is not so well suited for that (for obvious reasons) so most years I've been doing it on the 2nd (sometimes a few days later). And I think you misunderstood a bit, because I never skip any songs for those charts (only sometimes for the much shorter weekly charts). It can be exhausting but in a good way; I often get more exercise those days than from a two-hour walk a normal day!
Some of that is going to change this week.
The biggest actual problem related to which songs are eligible has been when I found a song (usually) in Spotify with incorrect year information and only later found out it was several years old. In such cases I simply recomputed the affected week(s) so that the song was removed. Since I started posting my chart in real-time here (April 2015) I've been more careful to double-check new entries (and usually the bubblers) before posting.
";Paralyzed"; becomes #1 in its 7th week on the chart. That's one week more than it took Demi Lovato's ";Body Say"; back in August, which means that it is now ";Paralyzed"; that is the ";slowest"; #1 in more than a decade. While most songs that took their time to reach #1 entered relatively low and slowly climbed, this time it's a song that nearly became #1 in its first week but got blocked. Had it not been for ";Nirvana"; (that, quite shockingly, leaves the chart this week), ";Rддkimata lood"; and a short-lived peak for ";Play It Cool";, this might have been Chelsea's 7th week at #1!
Top 30 for week 45 2016 (7 – 13 November) Chart #: 880 , Volume: 1,351.
No. The logic behind the single/album rule was/is that I shouldn't need to know if a single was already on a released album or that a song on an album was previously released as a single. Of course, this information is usually easy to find nowadays, but it wasn't as easy (for me) 16 years ago when I started my chart and I wanted to make it as easy for me as possible. Note that this also means that I'm not required to know when a song was in fact released as a single later, so if I hadn't bothered to look for or stumbled upon that information for "Der Zaubertrank ist leer" it would have been fine to treat it as a song from 2014 and it would never have charted. (In the rather esoteric case where a song is first released year x, discovered by me year x+1 and then becomes a single year x+2 (or later) the year cannot be changed from x because that could lead to the song becoming eligible again after having been ineligible, and that would be too much trouble.)
No, it's third in total number of weeks at #1 and fourth in consecutive. Here's a reprise of two lists I presented in August (nothing has changed except Emmelie adding on one week in the first one):
Linear Mode Switch to Hybrid Mode Switch to Threaded Mode.
That's great! I'll definitely give this album another spin this week as well, somehow i really re-discovered this. It's probably even my second most favorite album coming from the ESC, only behind Loreen's "Heal". A shame Emmelie never did more, her potential was so incredibly huge in my opinion. Yeah it's interesting that many of the artists from your charts aren't the most successful ones, except the likes of Taylor Swift or Avril Lavigne. But that's a good thing, isn't it?

So RaeLynn has already announced her album? Just checked out "Always Sing" and yes, i think the word 'cute' would fit as well, but this is better than "Diamonds" IMO, because as you said it's faster and i like that. Yeah that was my reaction as well, however that 90s eurodisco thing is not even a bad thing. It got better the longer it went and as i said, the vocals on "Raju reede" are really good. Good luck with it on the Forum Song Contest, i think that's a good pick.
I agree about Only Teardrops of course, and if fact I think your comment inspired me to listen to it even more (all of the songs) this week. So don't be shocked if it climbs even higher. I'm not that surprised about its lack of commercial success though as this is shared by many (most?) of my other top favourite albums.
I have another question about the age of a song to be in the charts. Der Zaubertrank ist leer was allowed because this number was on single in 2015. Does the same rule count when songs are again be released on a compilation from an artist?
I have exact rules for my chart, they are listed in the first post in this thread. In short, it is based on number of plays, with some plays from previous weeks included and songs must be from the current year or from the year before if it's been less than a year since I first started listening to them. Albums may chart regardless of how old they are. For me these rules make it easy because the chart is computed automatically each week (with some manual intervention to for example link different versions of the same song).
Thanks for commenting! Unfortunately I only understand a tiny little bit of Dutch, but with the help of Google translate I think I got what you wrote. Yeah, sometimes I find "random" songs and artists that I never heard of before but turn out to be really good. I had never heard of Eveline Cannoot until about a week ago when I was reading through a long list of new releases in Spotify. It looks like this is actually the first song with lyrics in Dutch to ever appear on my chart! That's a bit surprising considering there have been songs in almost all other "big" languages (and several small ones). Although English is really dominant overall, I like to listen to songs even when I don't understand any of the lyrics.
Single/EP covers for the top 4 and the new entries.
I think the easiest way to make a chart based on plays is to create an account at Last.FM and then set up Spotify (and other players) to send information about plays to that (called "scrobbling"). This did not exist in 2000 when I started my chart though (and I didn't even have Internet at home back then) and because I'm a programmer I wrote my own Windows programs, both to listen to the songs (in 1999) and to handle the chart. I've made some improvements over the years but most of it is unchanged since then and looks really old but it still works great for me. I also transfer plays from my iPod by exporting the library from iTunes and parsing out the plays from that (with another program) and I also have a hack to make Spotify "scrobble" to my own program instead of to Last.FM.
I also have listen to Held der Liebe by Ivana. She does sound dutch. She is not well known in the Netherlands. A little bit funny how she sings german. Last year became another dutch singer "Laura" second im Deutschland in das TV-programm Deutschland Sucht Den Superstar. Vanessa Mai was in that television program judge. Laura had sometimes the comment of the jury that her German wasn't excactly how it should be. But she was way better than what I heard from Ivana.
I am planning to make my own personal chart. Wanna to begin with a single top 10. But I have to find out how it works. Do you have any rules making your charts. In the past I've wanted to make a personal chart but I'm a little bit to perfectionist and so the charts stranded because of the rules I made.
No song qualified as a bubbler this week!
You're welcome! Interesting how many of those Dutch song titles are actually intelligible to me just based on their similarity to Swedish, especially "Zwart wit". I haven't checked out any of the songs though. As you may have noticed I mostly listen to female singers. I think it's very good that your chart will have rules that exclude those songs .
But there are 40+ people here making personal charts and there are of course no rules about how it "should" be done. Just a top 10 chart with no specific rules would be a great start!
Wait, so you are usually listen to the whole Top200 during the same day? That's impressive!! So i can definitely see why it could make sense to skip a song or two, and especially in the case you've mentioned where the bottom of the list is more random than usual it could make the process of listening to the list way more tedious or exhausting.
The age rule is not just for entering the chart but also for staying, so some songs will be forced to leave even though I still listen to them enough for them to still be in the top 30, otherwise you understood it correctly. Sometimes it's not so easy to define how old a song is, for example "Der Zaubertrank ist leer" was (as you already know) first released on the Endlos verliebt album in February 2014 so it is arguably almost three years old by now, but it's still allowed to chart because it was released as a single in 2015 (and because I only heard it fort the first time this year).
Most of the Dutch artists I like are singing in English, for example Esmйe Denters who was #1 on the albums chart in 2009 with her album Outta Here and #2 on the songs chart with the title track. There was also a random song in 2014, a piano ballad by Ivana (Raymonda van der Veen) sung in German with (or at least that's how it sounds to me) a Dutch accent, "Held der Liebe". I remember at first I just thought it sounded funny but then I started to really like it.
Don't do that then. Better enjoying the Wolkenfrei albums than taking the risk of ruining them.
Yeah, it's definitely a shame, but not much one can do about it. I got curious to find out what she's up to now and found this on her FB page: "Recording some songs for my new youtube channel. They'll be ready in two weeks or so." Will definitely check that out!
I've launched already a top 10 in the personal charts. At this time it didn't have any rules. Thinking about what rules I find important. I've read your rules. If I understand them well, a song may not be older than 2 years and a song cannot enter the charts more than 1 year after you heard it for the first time. They are good rules. It made me curious in what computerprogram do you keep the scores. And how do you count how many times you played a song. Or is there something that I didn't understand?
If I (in addition to looking for new stuff with artists I already know), filter for pop (and country) it's possible to at least skim through the list of new releases and click on whatever looks interesting (going by artist name, artwork, exact genre info etc). I've done this since 2012 (although with some long breaks, including most of this year) and this way I can find new songs by artists that are not in any charts, not in anyone else's personal chart and not connected (for example by a "related artists" link) to any artist I've checked out before. In the past I've used various other ways to find new music, including download sites (especially in 2005-2008) and a great radio show that existed on Swedish radio (1997-2005). I'm glad you found some interesting things in my charts archive!
Geweldig.
Wow, thanks for this list! I'll definitely save those links and check them from time to time. I looked at the Dutch schlager chart and did not recognize any of the artists, so that looks like a great way to discover new artists! I will definitely check out at least the female ones.
It has happened several times before that two songs charting simultaneously share the exact same title, but this is the first time that title is not in English (the previous ones were ";Forever";, ";Stronger";, ";The Last Goodbye";, ";Heaven";, ";All That I Am";, ";Broken";, ";What If";, ";Say Goodbye";, ";17";, ";Beautiful";, ";Fly";, ";Armour"; and ";Wildfire";). I discovered both songs at almost the same time (actually listened to them for the first time the same day), but it was not an intentional effort to find two songs with the same title. Also interesting is the fact that while the title is in German neither of the artists is actually from Germany but from Austria and Switzerland. Swiss singer Beatrice Egli previous charted with ";Bitte Bitte"; earlier this year, a song for her album Kick im Augenblick . A new (";fan edition";) of that album was recently released, featuring several new songs among which ";Federleicht"; is one of the best. Another one is the faster ";Wo sind all the Romeos"; that enters two positions higher.
Great that you checked out all those songs! "Diamonds" is definitely my favourite among them and I'm really looking forward to her album now (didn't even think of that album when you asked a few weeks ago which albums this year I had high hopes for). "Diamonds" isn't (yet?) my favourite RaeLynn song though; she reached #2 in June last year with "Always Sing", which I guess could also be described as "cute" (but is much faster). Yeah, when I first listened to "Raju reede" I actually laughed out loud and thought the sound/production was ridiculous (like a '90s eurodisco song) but I really liked it when she started singing. I still have no idea what the song is about though (Google translate can't even handle the title. ), maybe the lyrics are ridiculous as well (as indicated by what sounds like "super Mario" ).
Yeah, 2nd December. There are already four songs available (the fourth was released this Friday) and I like all of them so really looking forward to the album. It would already be on my chart based on those four songs if it wasn't for the rule that an album must have been released before it is allowed to chart.
It seems almost every time Emmelie returns to #1 I make a strong new discovery the week after. Not every song on Kaya Stewart's album is top-notch, but with three great songs that all entered the top 10 on the songs chart it was still unstoppable this week.
Eh yeah where do I start. I've listened all of the singles from your single charts this week. I really do like:
Those bonus tracks were among the weakest songs on the album though imo. And because the album wasn't a favourite for you it's perfectly understandable that you didn't remember when it was released. I bet this is different for songs/albums that you really liked. For me, if presented with a random song that was #1 or spent many weeks in the top 10 I could probably say when it was released (or at least when I discovered it) down to season (winter, summer etc.) and in many cases the exact month. I often use the songs I listened to as a general memory aid; for example if at first I don't remember when a certain event took place I just need to think about what songs I listened a lot to at that time. It's a scary thought how "anonymous" each year would be if it weren't for the music I discovered that year.
It's the busiest week in a long time with five new entries and two re-entries. Thanks to a re-release with six new songs, Swiss schlager singer Beatrice Egli returns at #6, three positions higher than her previous (dual) peak. Also (part) Swiss singer Rykka enters at #8 with a new album (that includes her ESC song ";The Last of Our Kind";). I also listened for the first time to two older albums by Austrian singer Melissa Naschenweng; these do not include the two songs she entered with on the songs chart (and aren't quite as good as those).
Other than that, i can't say a lot about this week's singles charts. I obviously still like the same entries like last week, especially Grete Paia, Nina Kralji?, Britt Nicole and Cappa. It's a bit shocking to see "Nirvana" dropping so much lately though, also didn't expect to see that drop for "Concrete" this week.
Search Thread.
I'm starting with the bottom this week and have to say that i'm surprised to see Ayda Jebat andMinou debuting as both were far away from being my faves on last month's contest to be honest. However, as you can imagine, i'm very happy to see Amaranthe's "That Song" there. Very glad you liked it that much on the contest, i was overall very surprised by the good end result.
Top 30 for week 44 2016 (31 October – 6 November) Chart #: 879 , Volume: 982.
Didn't know she already recorded some songs in german. I was also surprised in general that she already released new music as it seemed like she just released her second studio album - i completely forgot that it was already released over a half year ago.
Thread Tools.
I discovered Candice's debut album very late in 2013 which meant that only the (by far) best song, ";Someday";, managed to reach the top 200 on the YEC.
"Verlernt" is nice as well, i think all tracks are on a similar level to be honest, "In Farbe" just made the 'best' impression on me out of them all. But to be honest after listening to it a week ago i forgot about it quite fast again so it won't even debut on my charts. I'm definitely here if she releases a full album like that EP next year though.
That sounds great! Having a song connected to a really special (positive) event is obviously the ideal situation. For example, although it was already a few months old by then, I listened a lot to "Haunted Heart" at my brother's wedding (i.e. when getting ready in the morning etc, obviously not during the actual ceremony) and that's still noticable when I listen to it now.
For compilation/anthology albums it's obvious that (most of) the included songs were already released previously, so if I bought such an album it was OK that I had to search for information about each song individually.
Canadian singer Kate Voegele just released her fourth studio album Canyonlands which enters at #15. Her three earlier albums were all top 5 hits on my chart although with a downward trend (#1, #2 and #5 respectively). That may become difficult for this new one to match although I listened to it late in the week and it should have a good chance of climbing next week.
Ok, i finally checked the EP out and the sound is more interesting than i thought. The first few seconds of the opening track even sounded sooo good, that my expectations for the whole EP rose from zero to a lot. The EP didn't live up to these expectations, but it's still better than i initially expected, at least considering that i didn't like her at all only until a few weeks ago. "In Farbe" (which isn't charting ) is my clear favorite, followed by "Stadt im Hinterland". I'd be here for a whole album like this!
Those three were my top three in the voting (in the same order) and as you may remember I had already listened to "That Song" before (but started to like it more when I checked all songs for the voting). I have still to find a song in the FSC that become really big for me but I wouldn't be surprised to see it happen some month (haven't listened to all of this month's songs yet).
I'm really happy that you checked out Candice! I'm not surprised that you didn't know her because she's probably one of the least known artists who has had great success on my chart. Her album that was released in 2013 got to #1 and the song "Someday" was #1 on the Songs chart with 413 plays the first week; that was the highest number for any song that year, even higher than "Haunted Heart" (381, improved to 698 the year after)! Compared to that this new EP is a bit of a flop (even though it will climb higher this week). And I can definitely see what you mean about the production; would have been interesting to see how good she would sound if everything was just right because I like her voice a lot. It seems she's trying to sound more modern on the EP compared to the album which I may consider a mistake. "We Keep On Dancing" is my favourite (as will be obvious tomorrow).
Album/single/EP covers for the new entries (minus Kalie whom I forgot ).
Dropouts: --?(26)?Kloe – Touch (4 weeks, peak #19) S V --?(27)?Hillary Scott & The Scott Family – Love Remains (2 weeks, peak #27) S A --?(28)?Rebecca Black – The Great Div >(8 weeks, peak #3) S A.
In order to help to search for local music from different country's. Here are some charts with mostly artists from the particular country.
Makes sense. I guess that 'rule' is one of the problems why i can't listen to newer album as much as i used to do a few years ago. But somehow i feel like i need to listen to an album that's on my charts at least once, otherwise why would it still chart? Would be interesting to see how my charts would look like when its based on plays as well.
Ah makes sense. I think some fans already know her song, as many participants from the FSC also follow the ESC and its pre-selections.
Groetjes uit Nederland, Speedy.
Glad to hear this! Can't wait to see its final position (i usually write these replies before checking out the new chart, so i don't know its position while writing this reply. )
By the way personally I don't like the most music from the oranjetop30 (link I suggested). But there's a great audience that really do like this music. And ofcourse in the chart there is sometimes a really good song. I prefer more the more popmusic top 10 from 100%NL.
Yeah, this has been true for most years, with 2010 and 2011 being the big exceptions. In 2010 the song at #200 had just 3 plays, and the chart was almost random up to around #100 (although I still liked many songs that had very few plays). It still made sense to listen to it with no skipping though, because suffering through all those near-random songs made the songs in the top 50 sound even better. If I didn't have enough time to listen to the entire top 200 in one day though (which takes around 12 hours) it would probably make more sense to cut down the chart to 100 positions for such weak years (or just include songs that have at least 10 plays; that's a rule I've used for some secondary year end charts of older songs etc.) while for strong years I would split it over several days (like I did for the top 500 decade chart of the '00s; that took three days to get through).
Still a good #1 - and i keep on being suprised that you didn't pick Grete Paia as the FSC represent from you last month and still didn't pick her another month Nice to see "Snijeg" still climbing, and glad to see "Zaljuljali smo svijet" and "Lighthouse" still charting as well. I still like the entries for Megan Nicole, Chelsea Lankes, Britt Nicole, Hillary Scott, Cappa and Simone.
Groetjes uit Nederland, Speedy.
Single covers for the #1 and the new entries.
Here is a screenshot that shows how my chart looks to me when I first see it (don't ask why the program labels are in Swedish, or why the red and blue colors are "inverted"). There are hidden columns for number of plays and score, but those are blank for most songs until the end of the year.
Bubblers: These are songs that have not yet charted, are at most 30 positions behind the chart and closer now than last week, listed in alphabetical order. Ayda Jebat – Pencuri Hati S V Madeline Juno – Ich wache auf S.
Even rarer than the fact that Emmelie's album has so many more total weeks compared to consecutive is that her longest run at #1 wasn't the first one. The album spent 17 weeks at #1 from the release week on (one more than "Haunted Heart" on the songs chart), first returned to #1 week 50 but lost it again the week after (to Candice; see below), but then was #1 from week 4-28 2014, i.e. 25 weeks.
Kaya Stewart is a new discovery for me since late last week. She may have a horrible haircut on the album cover but I found several great, very pop/rock-ish, songs on her debut album. She sounds a bit like a cross between Kelly Clarkson and Lesley Roy on these (while several of the other tracks have more R&B influences). Also a new discovery, thanks to UKMix member Speedy, is Austrian folk/schlager singer Melissa Naschenweng who gets an instant top 10 hit with ";Die ganze Nacht"; and is close to the top 10 with another song (released last year).
Wow, i'm impressed at Wolkenfrei's revived success! It's a shame Vanessa's solo album from that year never got you the way the Wolkenfrei albums did :( Very glad to see "Samo" spending a second week in the Top3, and Emmelie De Forest rising back into the Top5. I finally listened to "Only Teardrops" again last thursday and according to LastFM it was the first time in two years i did so And it still sounded incredible, there are so many fantastic tracks on it! I will probably never understand why they didn't release more singles and never did more promo in Europe for her.
Also thanks for advising scrobbling. Wow! I scrobble now all day . Have Last.FM on my smartphone and it's scrobbling now all the tracks I listen to. Have also a installed a plug-in for my winamp musicplayer on pc and now winamp is also scrobbling everything to Last.FM. I should be able now to find out easily wich songs I played most for a week.
I've found your chart now, didn't notice it this morning because often I only check threads I've already posted in (the "View your posts" link).
Thread: Magnus's Top 30: Week 48 2019 (still just Top 10)

I don't know if I should give it another chance or if that just risks ruining the other two.
From all the entries i didn't know i picked a few to check out. RaeLynn's "Diamonds" is soo cute! Never heard of her before but i can see why you like that song so much. Bailey Bryan's "Own It" is cute as well, but nothing i'd download. But also nothing i'd skip when it would come on the radio or so. Merlyn Uuskьla. definitely NOT what i was expecting, especially the beat/dance sound. The vocals are great though, and once i got used to the style, the song sounds good as well. Last but not least, also checked out "Pььame droone", and this is my fave out of all these tracks. It's not as good as "Stories Untold" but another great song. I hope she releases an album soon, i'd definitely be here for that.
Ah yeah. I think it gets even worse that the charts is very slow lately, especially since streaming took over. Some songs are charting for months, this makes most of the charts quite boring. A chart with only local artists would be very interesting, a few countries already do one on their own, Sweden for example.
Over on the album charts i absolutely love that unexpected new number one album! As i said, i really love "Only Teardrops", and its success on your charts is astonishing, but well deserved. I think you already mentioned which album is the longest running #1 album on your charts with something like 100 weeks, and it was by Amy Diamond, right? Is Emmlie already second? Very nice to see "Samo" spending another week in the Top3. Checked out that new debut for Candice Russell, i've also googled who she is as i didn't know her. The EP is nice, the opening / title track and the last one are my favorites, but you can clearly hear that there was no 'big' producer behind that project. Her voice is quite good though, and as i said, it's a nice EP and listening to it was definitely not something i regret.
This week also sees the return of little known American singer/songwriter Candice Russell who had great success on my chart in late 2013/early 2014 (see chart history below). ";We Keep On Dancing"; is my favourite out of the five songs on an EP that she released in late August. Swedish singer Ida LaFontaine, American Kalie Shorr and Swiss/Canadian Rykka also return which one song each.
Ha ha, I thought you might ask about that! Well, last month I actually discovered Liis first, so when I selected her song as the entry I hadn't yet discovered Grete. I thought about picking her song now, but it felt a bit lame to choose a song connected to the actual ESC (even if it would still be eligible) and I couldn't decide if I should pick the Estonian or the English version. So instead I went with another song that I had just started to really like (even though I had first noticed it around the same time as the other two). I'll definitely pick Grete if she releases a new song (that isn't terrible) though!
Top 12 albums by total weeks at #1.
Top 30 for week 43 2016 (24 – 30 October) Chart #: 878 , Volume: 1,134.
