Do-it-yourself laptop repair at home

Recently, your laptop has been behaving unstable, heating up, "slowing down" or not turning on at all. At the moment, you do not have the financial opportunity to repair it in a service center or there is no time to take it there. You decide to diagnose the malfunction and possibly repair it yourself, that is, with your own hands. Here you act at your own risk, since most often only a master can fix such a complex thing correctly and not spoil it. If you are not experienced in laptop repair, it is better not to try to repair it yourself, especially when it comes to serious damage.

However, you can do the initial diagnostics and some simple repairs yourself, without the help of craftsmen.

We list the main signs of a laptop breakdown, this will help to understand what exactly is out of order:

The laptop does not turn on and does not make noise. Most often, this is a breakdown of the power circuit: a power supply, a power controller, or a short circuit in the circuit. More precisely, you will not be able to figure it out on your own in the absence of another working power supply, a tester and special skills. Such repairs are definitely best done at a service center.

The laptop turns on, but there is no image. If, after disassembling the laptop and connecting it to an external monitor, the image does not appear, then most likely this video chip is out of order. This is a painstaking and costly repair. Carrying it out is possible only with the availability of professional equipment by an experienced master.

The laptop turns on, the cooler makes noise, there is an image, but Windows does not boot. Here the problem is either in the OS, or the hard drive is out of order. With certain skills and a set of screwdrivers and a drive, you can replace the hard drive yourself.

The laptop gets very hot or overheats and shuts down. Perhaps the point here is that it has not been cleaned of dust for a long time. Having a set of screwdrivers and at least minimal skills, you can do maintenance yourself. Replacing thermal paste and thermal pads is a must.

On a laptop, some of the buttons or the entire keyboard stopped working. You can replace the keyboard at home by watching a video on the Internet about disassembling your laptop model and having screwdrivers.

The laptop was filled with liquid. In this case, it is better to turn off the laptop, remove the battery and do no work yourself, so as not to harm even more.
