Cowboys make OT contingency plans to Chaz Green in signing Byron Bell

Veteran offensive linemanBradley Pinion Authentic Jersey and Greenville, Texas native Byron Bell has signed a one-year contract with the Dallas Cowboys, providing a much-needed presence within the unit. With RT Doug Free’s plans to retire this offseason, and Chaz Green’s injury history, the team faces major question marks about right tackle in 2017. Bringing in Bell is a more-than-solid response.

Bell has started 72 games over his five-year career, most of them as a member of the Panthers. Originally a 2011 undrafted free agent out Thurman Thomas Womens Jersey of the University of New Mexico, Bell played right tackle for the Panthers for the first three years of his career. Carolina flipped him to left tackle in 2014, and then the next year he signed with Tennessee as a free agent. Bell started all 16 games for the Titans in 2015, playing three different positions (RT, LT, and LG). He would break his ankle during OTAs last season, keeping him out for the entirety of 2016.
Dallas tried to have a transition for Free’s eventual retirement in pace, drafting Green in the third round of the 2015 draft. He’s been constantly injured, appearing in only four games over two seasons. It’s possible Green can still pull ithttp://www.authenticbroncosshop.com/shop-by-players-riley-dixon-jer... together and play a meaningful role on this team, but his injury history shows that he cannot be relied upon to provide that next season.
Offensive lineman La’el Collins and Zack Martin each have experience playing tackle in college, and either player could kick outside. However, that would just move the team’s hole from tackle to guard. In Bell, the Cowboys now have an experienced and steady option capable of standing in for Free. The team can still electhttp://www.authenticcowboyssale.com/shop-by-players-chuck-howley-je... to bring in another lineman via the draft, furthering the competition for the open starting spot. Dallas has long benefitted from having solid offensive line depth, which could pay off greatly again in 2017.
