Control Room Consoles: The Importance of Comfort

Control room workers can miss crucial details or emergencies when they are not comfortable in their workplace. Issues like back pain, bad viewing angles can make some of them sign in sick, leaving you with few workers and a considerable workload. Managing the data in a control room is quite tricky and needs a lot of concentration. It is not hard to concentrate when the surrounding environment is uncomfortable with unbearable furniture. Below is why it is essential to ensure there is comfort in the control room.
Chairs are more than seats.
Buying the wrong seats for the control room just for the sake of it is the worse decision you can make. Remember, the control room operators sit on those chairs from morning to evening every day. If the chairs they are using are poor or in bad condition, they can significantly affect their input and performance. The chair can cause fatigue, joint pain, and back pain. These discomforts make it hard for anyone to concentrate on what they are supposed to be doing. The operators can, in turn, ask for sick leave, which will, in turn, affect your business significantly.
When you choose seats for the control room operators, please make sure they are comfortable and offer great support to the spinal cord. If the chair has ergonomic positioning, it's an added advantage, especially if they are from the GSA console furniture.
Within Reach
Workers in a control room are busy with their eyes constantly glued to their monitors to not miss anything crucial. Therefore, they don't seem to have time to get up to get something they need to work with. It is, therefore, important as a part of the importance of comfort to have everything that they need and work with within their reach. Putting things within their reach helps save on time and also helps avoid accidents and injuries in the control room.
Placement is Key
When you are arranging the control room, it’s not about just taking a chair and putting it in front of a console. The room layout is very important. You should always consider where the operators' working station is from the video wall and how far they are from each other. When the control room is arranged properly, communication is enhanced and also the operators' working desks are of comfortable height, making them comfortable as they work.
Lots of Display
Control rooms deal mainly with the viewing of the screens, which need multitasking. Providing the operators with several viewing screens is a great help t them. This will help avoid straining and gives easy access to any information that they may need. With multiple screens, they can efficiently work on different programs at a go and make shifting between them easier. As an added advantage, you can add some touch screens as well. Lots of visibility makes their work easier and ensures they are comfortable with their work. Many screens also offer excellent visibility, as they can spot many different issued from different angles and tend to them.
