There are several common myths regarding weight loss that people should be aware of. Sometimes, these myths can be misleading causing people to fain and not lose weight.

Myth # 1: Skipping Meals = Weight Loss
Skipping meals causes a person to gain more weight because it slows down the body's metabolism. Interestingly, people who skip meals weigh more than those who eat regular meals. The reason is because there is a tendency to over eat because of the need to compensate for skipping breakfast or lunch. Instead of skipping a meal altogether, focus on cutting back on the calories by finding lower calorie alternative food.

Myth #2: Dieting is a good way to control weight.
The truth is, 95-98% of people who go on a diet gain back all the weight they lost plus a lot more. This is according to a study done by National Institute of Health. The key to a healthy relationship with food is to eat when you are hungry, eat exactly what you want and stop when satisfied. This way your body will stabilized to its natural weight.

Myth #3: The best way to trim weight is avoid eating carbohydrates.
The truth is the best way to lose weight is to avoid eating high calorie food while enjoying a nutritious diet that includes a wide variety of food. It is important that you keep your calorie low while enjoying all kinds of food. Although it is best to avoid refined carbohydrates as much as possible like bread, rice, pasta, they are still part of a nutritious diet. Try to choose complex carbohydrates instead like whole grains and beans.
