Cisco completes acquisition of Kenna Security

With the acquisition of Kenna Security, Cisco is acquiring data science-based security risk management technology that OEM plans to integrate into its secure X platform.
OEM Cisco continues to expand its security portfolio. This week, OEM finalized an undisclosed acquisition of California-based risk management firm Kenna Security. Kenna's risk-based vulnerability management system collects and analyzes security data to provide security teams with threat information so they can prioritize removal and better understand the risks.

Kenna Security technology will be integrated with Cisco's SecureX service, which now includes many security components. According to Cisco, this open cloud system can detect and remove threats to Cisco and third-party products from a single interface. The SecureX dashboard displays operational metrics, triggers emerging threat alerts, and accelerates threat investigation and incident management by integrating and correlating global intelligence with the local context in a single view. In addition, according to Cisco, SecureX provides access to more than 30 pre-built security workflows, 40 turnkey integrations, and orchestration capabilities to automate and orchestrate security management in the enterprise cloud, network, applications, and endpoints. "Using data science and intelligence for real threats, Kena has demonstrated its ability to process data from nearby vendors and provide a comprehensive picture of the risk of IT vulnerabilities," wrote Gee Rittenhouse, senior vice president and general manager, Cisco Security Business Group, on the acquisition blog.
"Integrating Kenna Security with Secure X helps build a bridge between Cisco's threat management and Kenna's vulnerability management, and thus strengthens Cisco's overall platform," he said. "In addition, by combining Kenna Security with SecureX , customers will be able to address critical challenges by generating priority lists of vulnerabilities, streamlining collaboration between security teams and IT, and automating corrective action to improve their overall security position, ”said Mr. Rittenhouse.

Acquisitions follow one after another

Over the past two years, Cisco has made several security acquisitions. This is particularly the case with Banzai Cloud, which allows customers to monitor the development, implementation and execution of applications, as well as security workflows; Portshift, Kubernetes' native security platform for application protection; or Duo, whose Zero Trust solution improves access security and provides multifactor authentication through security keys or biometric capabilities.
