The 2017 Air Jordan Shoes originally released more than 15 years ago (March 2001). This November, the shoe makes its return coming in the OG Midnight Navy colorway. The last time we saw any kind of version of the shoe was back in 2008 when the Black Air Jordan 16 released as a part of the CDP where it got paired up with the Air Jordan 7. Fun fact about the shoe, it was also the first Air Jordan since the Air Jordan 3 that was not designed by Tinker Hatfield. This release is a nod back to Michael Jordan’s days with the Washington Wizards. Michael Jordan’s return to basketball as a Washington Wizard might be the more forgotten part of His Airness’s storybook career, but Jordan Brand has been dropping retro releases honoring his time in the nation’s capital for quite some time now. Today we have some good news, too: you can now buy the Air Jordan 16 Midnight Navy through Nike’s Early Access program.
For those that don’t know, New Jordans 2017 will be the first time that Jordan Brand retro’s the Air Jordan 16, not counting the Countdown Pack from 2008. The Midnight Navy originally launched back in March, 2001 and retailed for $160. We can more than likely see an increased price tag for 2016. One of the most recognizable features on the shoe is the removable shroud that helps give the shoe two different looks. The patent leather that helped make the Jordan 11 so popular made its modest return to Michael Jordan’s signature sneaker line with the versatile Jordan 16 in 2001. The translucent sole returned as well, also absent since the 11. Presented as two sneakers in one, the 16 came with a removable leather shroud that covered the laces and wrapped around the sole.A full on black leather uppers don the VI silhouette, with perforated additions throughout the entire shoe. On the insoles, a Black Cat graphic is added for more detail on this upcoming Air Jordan 6.
