Percocet is a brand name of Oxycodone/acetaminophen, which is a prescription medication. It contains
a combination of acetaminophen and oxycodone. Oxycodone is an opioid pain medication and used to
treat moderate to severe short-term pain. Sometimes an opioid is also known as a narcotic. And
acetaminophen is a less potent pain reliever that increases the effects of oxycodone.
Percocet was approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration in the year 1976, under an
application ANDA 085106.
It is only prescribed when treatment with non-opioid pain-relieving medication has not been tolerated.

It is good to take this medication through the lowest effective dosage for the shortest period as
prescribed by your doctor.
You may take Percocet oral formulation by mouth, with or without food.

Side effects

Taking Percocet more frequently or improperly can cause some severe and more frequent side effects.

 blue lips and fingernails

 burning, crawling, numbness itching, prickling, "pins and needles," or tingling feelings
 chest pain or discomfort
 cloudy urine
 clumsiness
 confusion
 bloating
 back, leg, or stomach pains
 bleeding gums
 chest pain
 dark urine
 clumsiness
 coughing that sometimes produces a frothy pink sputum
 decreased awareness or responsiveness
 decreased frequency or amount of urine
 difficult or labored breathing
 difficult, fast, noisy breathing
 difficulty in passing urine (dribbling)
 difficulty with swallowing
 dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
 drowsiness
 dry mouth
 extremely shallow or slow breathing
