Bohemian Flower Arrangement

Bohemian Flower Arrangement:

Today we discuss how to make a bohemian neutral or monochromatic arrangement. So first things first you're going to want to establish a shape i personally have a shape that i have been using for a very long time it's an asymmetrical shape the more that you work with flowers though the more you know the more knowledge you'll get about the way flowers move and their textures and all those things and it might be easier for you to establish a different shape so i'm just going to show you my default it's asymmetrical if you follow me on instagram you already know this so i'm going to start with pompousgrass and these reeds i've already trimmed down so normally they're really really long um and you don't want to cut straight across sorry i can't talk you don't want to cut straight across like this because it's going to leave a straight line it's going to look really bad so you're going to pull the feathers apart and you're going to cut straight into the reed if you have questions about this just leave me a comment and we will get started so again about the shape um i do an asymmetrical one i like it to be high up here and low in the front so if you're looking at it from a bird's eye view it's got a diagonal um shape like this i think that's the right word to use anyway so on the high end of the diagonal you're going to want to you know add height and on the low end of the diagonal you're going to want to add not height so let me explain all right so i'm not a teacher by the way i am self-taught so i'm gonna do my best your comments will be very helpful though because they'll you know assist me in teaching you guys better okay so you see what i mean about building the height here and then keeping it low down here so side note um this piece of pompous grass i've already wrapped in wax tape if you have a bunch of stringy hairs you can kind of just punch them together and take a piece of wax tape about this long for example i have these pieces of pompous grass and i just like to twist them like that and then wrap like so got it it's wild right um it works really good with a lot of dried stuff because like for instance these little star flowers are a pain in the ass to work with if you're using individual stem so it's better to like group the stems together make it like a little tiny bouquet and then wrap the wax tape around all right now you get what i'm saying right okay height and then not height i'll come up with another concept for it or another term um okay so it's low on this end and it's high on this end so once you're done establishing your shape you're going to start building the structure which includes all the depth and all the yummy guys i always like to have a little like thing in the back that kind of juts out okay so first things. Get pampas grass near me for sale.

First when building the structure is i always like to start at the lip of the vessel um i like to layer layer is just a fancy word for step so let me give you an example so this carnation i'm gonna put really close to the vessel okay and then i'm going to layer by placing another one just above it like so so this creates a really beautiful depth when photographing and we're just going to keep that going so we're still pretty empty in the center also i'm using foam i'm just doing it for this video for ease but normally i use chicken wire and water and i'm going to do that for future posts just because foam is not great for the environment this one is by oasis and it's actually biodegradable but when it's buried in a landfill it releases methane into the atmosphere which is not great it's like the same thing as cow farts which i think is like a cause for global warming but we're not going to talk about that today this is not a political video this is the pretty video all right some dyed ranunculus so i'm just going to keep focusing on the the shape that i've already outlined so height here and i'm going to make it lower here so you want to keep that movement and usually i like to layer within the center which i'll show you guys in a second you just have to be consistent with the shape otherwise it becomes discombobulated like really quickly and you're like well that's not the shape that i intended. Pampas grass decor is one of the most unique things for decoration.

So just make sure you stay focused all right i'm going to use some of these toffee roses just to build into the center so here's what we got so far and i'd recommend getting a lazy susan if you don't have one already i'll do another post on supplies that i think all flourish should have a lazy susan is just basically a plate that spins so that you can constantly check all sides of the arrangement to make sure that it looks delicious everywhere um and you know i'm gonna use some champagne roses just keep that layering game up all right i'm going to build into the center a little bit and i'm just going to push some flowers down lower than others it's really all about layering and balance so you don't want your flowers to well it depends on what style you're doing i don't like to have too heavy um too heavy a blend of flowers on one side or the other unless that's what i'm going for specifically i like to have like a nice flow and balance throughout the whole thing i'm filming outside of my neighbor was just peeking next time maybe i'll film inside okay i'm gonna also add some brown dyed lizzies i'm just going to tuck some in really low right there you don't want any of the foam to show even though it's green it's just sticky it's tacky we don't like tucky all right um what else am i going to add i'll do some more of these champagne roses i'll tuck one in right over here actually i don't like that i'll take one back here you'll see what i did also i'll spin it so see how it's kind of coming together so the front and the back are gonna look beautiful so it can be placed on a table and it will look gorgeous no matter what the angle i'm also going to add some white sweet peas so in the photo posted in the video it has both of the arrangements are slightly different but this arrangement kind of has everything in it um and i will do another post on how i shop florals so you guys can learn how to shop like me if you want i really love to stay within the same tone and color palette um but i usually go into purchasing florals with like a theme in mind and a tone so normally i do like a desert bohemian theme and like a caramel tone that's how i would describe this one a caramel neutral tone all right and then i'm going to use some of this preserved and bleached chip and we're going to probably use some wax tape like i just showed you guys because it makes it easier see this is annoying so you can cut these in a straight line and then i kind of like to adjust heights so it doesn't look so inorganic we like organic free-range flowers here i'm not a comedian i'm going to tuck some of these in back here and then i'm going to test them in the front as well some pieces that are just single stems i'm not going to use wax tape with because it's really not necessary it's just the like weird little clusters that are stuck together those are the ones you gotta watch out for me uh that looks nice and then right here is kind of stemmy it's annoying to me like it's okay if you have one little wild stem here and there but if it's all stemmy it looks like not dense enough and i like dense arrangements you might not so you know aesthetic is a very relative thing and this is just my preference so take it or leave it so i'm going to try to disguise these stems a little bit with this carnation.
