Are UV rays from indoor mosquito killers harmful to humans?

In an unoccupied room, turn off other light sources, indoor mosquito killer lamps can indeed attract mosquitoes, and use high-voltage electricity and other devices to kill mosquitoes. However, when there are people in the room or other light sources are turned on, the ability of indoor mosquito killers to attract mosquitoes will decline, and many mosquitoes will not be lured by the ultraviolet light, but continue to attack the human body.

Long-term exposure to UV lamps is harmful to human body.

At present, the wavelength of the general ultraviolet mosquito killing lamp is 365nm, which belongs to the longer wavelength UVA band. The ultraviolet ray in this band has a strong penetrating ability and can penetrate most transparent glass and plastics. UVA can also reach the dermis layer of the skin, destroy elastic fibers and collagen fibers, and tan the skin.

In addition to the unsatisfactory effect of killing mosquitoes, ultraviolet lamps also have certain health risks, because the human body cannot accept a large amount of ultraviolet radiation. However, experts say that as long as it is not exposed for a long time, there is no need to worry.

Compared with the ultraviolet rays of the mosquito killer lamp, the ultraviolet rays of the disinfection lamp have a shorter wavelength, and the sterilization power of the wavelength of 240-280nm is the strongest, and the impact on the human body is also greater. Experts suggest that when using ultraviolet disinfection, there should be no people in the room, and the disinfection time is 30 minutes to 1 hour; avoid looking directly at the light source; families must wear protective glasses or sunglasses when operating the disinfection lamp.

It can be seen that "ultraviolet rays in indoor mosquito killing lamps cannot kill mosquitoes" is true. At best, UV lamps can only play the role of attracting mosquitoes, and this attracting role can also be interfered with by the human body and other light sources. Experts remind that the UV mosquito killing lamp should be carefully selected, as long as it is not irradiated for a long time, it generally has little effect on the human body; but the ultraviolet disinfection lamp needs to be operated carefully so as not to cause harm to the human body.
