We got this test from a friend of ours who you may have seen on one of the videos recently gordon um who we chat about air filter cleaner he he'd done the mod on his and he'd done this test so we decided to do the same thing and we ran some tests ourselves and um the criteria for the test were that we were going to do three runs in two different gears.

Clean & Oil A Dirt Bike Air Filter On A Budget

Three in the mid-range gear a third and three in top gear okay all three of those runs need to be in the same direction on the same stretch of road in the same conditions so that you've got as minimal variance as possible to have any outside factor factors affecting the results so that's what we did both of our bikes are in standard gearing and the only difference between mark's bike and mine.

Clean & Oil a Foam Air Filter on Motorcycl
Mostly got the standard exhaust on his whereas i've got the full system aftermarket exhaust on mine so we were interested to see how that affected it as well so by using third gear and sixth gear we were testing uh both the low end torque and that and the higher end rev range as well so in sixth gear though the revs were ranging between three and six thousand and in third went between five and ten thousand revs and ultimately the the test itself is just how long it takes the bike to move from thirty mile an hour up to 60 miles per hour in each of those gears so three runs from 30 to 60 miles an hour in third gear and three runs from 30 to 60 mile an hour in sixth gear as well and like i say that's testing both ends of the of the of the low down torque and the higher revs on the bike and just give us some pretty good figures that we could work off basically okay so i'm going to talk through the the figures now so the rally in top gear from uh 30 to 60 miles per hour before the mod took 16.7 seconds and after the mod took 13.6 seconds giving it a 3.1 second uh increase in speed or decrease in time.

That it took to get it through then that's a pretty impressive time in all honesty so how does that compare to the l so my bike has already got the uh the exhaust mod on it as well so my bike took 16.3 seconds to get from 30 to 60 mile an hour and then after the mod it took 13 points seconds so that's a speed of a time difference of three on that one so both of them show an increase which is really good in uh third gear on the rally the first run before the mod was uh an average of 6.3 seconds and after the mod is an average of 5.55 seconds that gives a total increase of 0.8 seconds uh over those and again that's just from doing the foam air filter oil mod on the l then uh in third gear before the mod took a flat six seconds and after the mod it took 5.3 seconds so still both of them slightly faster than the rally afterwards
