Yep, another decent hidden object game from Artifex Mundi. The puzzles in this one require some lateral thinking. ***. After hearing all of the hype about Artifex Mundi games, I have to say I'm extremely disappointed. While this game isn't bad, it certainly isn't good either. I like the artwork and music, but there are several problems. It took me a total of about 6.5 hours to finish, and after 3.5 or 4 hours, I was actually hoping it would be over soon because it wasn't enjoyable any more. I got it on sale for $3.99, and I definitely regret this purchase.

Pro:
+ Nice artwork
+ Nice music

Con:
- Many HO items blend into background nearly perfectly, making them extremely difficult to see
- Many HO items 90-95% covered, making them extremely difficult to see
- Many HO items mislabeled
- Some HO items not commonly known (such as Aquarius, Saggitarius, bracer, and tanto)
- Some HO items misspelled (such as "Scull" instead of "Skull")
- Some HO scenes with unstated rules (like the first one, where you have to click the listed items, and then click the gemstones revealed when the listed items move)
- Many mini-games with unclear rules
- Many mini-games where all you do is point, click, and repeat (no thought required)
- One mini-game (parachute one) where they literally said to guess which buttons to press
- Too much back and forth (go to scene A, perform action to get item 1; go to scene B, use item 1, perform action to get item 2; go back to scene A, use item 2, perform action to get item 3; then go back to scene B, use item 3, and perform action to get item 4)
- Some scenes with unintuitive, somewhat nonsensical required actions. Game Information

Agent Walker: Secret Journey is an Hidden Object Puzzle Adventure<\/i> game that was developed by Brave Giant Studio and published by Artifex Mundi.

Game Visuals

I want to mentioned that the visuals in the game is nicely done. The visuals can be adjusted in the game's option menu.

Game Audio

I want to mentioned that audio for the game is well done. Even though the audio is somewhat simplistic and repetitive. The audio can be adjusted in the game's option menu as well.

Gameplay

There are four different game difficulty modes to choose from: Casual; Advanced; Expert and Custom.

The notebook keep tracks of the progression in the game. Such as story events and clues.

There is an interactive map in the game. It allows the player to fast travel between each locations quickly without having the need to constantly backtracking. It also indicates that there are variety of tasks that can be completed at various locations within the game. The interactive map is automatically given at the start of the game.

There is no padlock feature that is available to lock the inventory panel in place to make it stationary. The inventory panel automatically comes stationary.

There are some interactive items in the game. Some of the interactive items may require extra components before they can be interact with. All interactive items are marked with a symbol in one of the corners.

The hidden object scenes consists of the following: Find 'x' amount; Shadow items and Traditional word lists. Some of these hidden object scenes may require a little or no interaction. Most of the hidden object scenes can be replayed in the game's extra feature section.

The puzzles are fairly easy to solve without having the need to skip any of them. Most of the puzzles can be replayed in the game's extra feature section as well.

There are three sets of collectibles in the game: Military Uniforms; Doll Figurines; Miniatures. All of the collectibles are scattered throughout the game for the player to find.

There are sixteen different achievements that can be unlocked from playing the game. Each of these achievements does come with some requirements that needed to be completed before they can be unlocked.

Miscellaneous

There are extra features in the game: Wallpapers; Interview; Concept Art; Soundtracks; Mini-Games and Hidden Object Scenes. Most of these extra features can be accessed only after the entire game is completed.

There are five different trading cards to collect. The game only drop three of those trading cards. There are several ways to get the rest of the trading cards: Purchased from the Steam's Community Market; Trade with friends; Booster Packs and its' Booster Pack Creator.

Final thoughts: I have found the game enjoyable to a certain extent. The replay value for the game is low. I would recommend this game, but not at the game's full price value.. Honestly not one of the better games that Artifex Mundi have put out. It takes a lot of the classic Artifex Mundi puzzles and techniques and uses them so sloppily that you really have to wonder if they put any thought into it at all, or just tossed them in there because, hey, that's what these games do, right? The whole game is a mess. It's playable, and that's really the only praise I can give it.. I really like Artifex Mundi games, but this one is upseting. It's just a puzzles for puzzles and HOSes for HOSes. Story is obvious and not interesting, kinda Indiana Jones in bad interpretation. Poor tries to add interactive dialogs just annoying. Plus, I (and at least few other people) have problem with one of the achievements. So, if you want a good puzzle game from AM better play Enigmatis or Grim Legends series.. This was definitely not one of the best Artifex Mundi HOGs. I did enjoy playing it though, because I was bored. If you are also bored as hell and played through all the other HOGs, this can help pass some hours. But, as there is no bonus adventure included and you can get all the achievements in one go (all but one: I think "Moviegoer" is broken) I can only recommend waiting until the game is part of some bundle. Even paying 40% less was still a bit too much.. Not a very impressive game, but the right person would find it fun.

The puzzles are quite easy, with only one or two that took a while.
The story line was quite bland, but if you're a fan of mixing military history with mythology and magic, you may like it.

Cons:
- Some 'puzzles' are literally just guessing games. You just click random things until you get the right order.
- There are a few puzzles that have a narrated story, but the story comes after the puzzle, so you don't really know what you're supposed to be doing.
- The objectives and the items you obtain are not intuitive (eg: you can go and collect the pieces of an item and repair it, without having any clue what part it plays in the story). This bothers me from a story perspective, because why on earth does your character want to go and pick up a random item such as clay?
- The hidden object puzzles heavily feature shapeshifting objects, which make no sense from a story perspective, and I don't personally feel like they add anything to the puzzle aspect of the game.
- The text and speech are mostly good, but there are issues here or there. These don't really affect gameplay, except for a few items in hidden object puzzles which are slightly misnamed.. I really enjoyed this game. It's a typical Artifex Mundi hidden object game. Not sure why it is getting bad reviews.. Game Information

Why we've changed the art style of Irony Curtain?:

Comrades!

Some time ago we showed you how Irony Curtain looked in the early prototype phase and how it lo....

Today we’d like to talk a little bit more about the reasons behind the change and the whole creative process. It’s no doubt that Irony Curtain came a long way from the times when it was just a prototype called simply ‘Matryoshka’.

There are three main reasons why we’ve decided to simplify the art style:

1. The previous style looked great but it didn’t play well . Help the charity with Irony Curtain & My Brother Rabbit!:

There are very few things as great as the Matryoshkan Nation - but The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity - WOŚP - is definitely one of them. It's a Polish charity dedicated to improving medical care for the youngest and oldest patients - if you'd like you can read more about them at the English WOŚP website[en.wosp.org.pl].

Long story short - for 27 years now they have been running a fundraiser in order to help provide equipment to hospitals, improve neonatological and senior patient care and even provide CPR lessons in schools. In that time the organization has raised 825 million PLN - that is roughly 198 million EUR!

This year we have decided to join this grand cause by submitting two auctions featuring unique and interesting items, which you will not find anywhere else.

You can bid on two auctions - one is My Brother Rabbit themed, the other is all about Irony Curtain:

1. IRONY CURTAIN AUCTION[charytatywni.allegro.pl]

You get:

  • a guided communism-themed tour in Krakow, Poland in the company of the developers of Irony Curtain
  • the Irony Curtain game (when it's out)
  • all and every Irony Curtain gadget ever produced and ever to be produced
  • a deerstalker-type hat called ushanka with an Irony Curtain Pin
  • Matryoshkan flag, 90cmx120cm
  • two Irony Curtain matryoshka cups

as a bonus - eternal glory and the approval of the Supreme Leader of Matryoshka!

2. MY BROTHER RABBIT AUCTION[charytatywni.allegro.pl]

You get:

  • the My Brother Rabbit game
  • a plushie, artbook with a dedication from the whole team
  • a studio visit and an opportunity to attend a creative workshop with MBR lead artist Łukasz Sałata
  • all Artifex Mundi games for Steam
  • a limited, box edition of the game

All auctions run till Jan 21st, 12:15:10!

Join in today and become a proud supporter of WOŚP! There are many awesome rewards to gain, but the biggest one is supporting a good cause!. The Giants wake up!:
Add the game to your wishlist and stay updated!. The creative process behind creating the locations in Irony Curtain:

This time we’d like to acquaint you with the creative process that goes into creating the scenes in the game. Here, for example, we have one of the first locations in the game – the conference Evan attends in order to present a speech on Matryoshka.

If you'd like to support the game, don't forget to add Irony Curtain to wishlist!

1. First off, we begin with a very rough concept art - mapping out the placement of active elements of the scene (the interactive parts that will contain moving objects), and on this, we build the gameplay (with placeholder dialogues and text and placeholder screens instead of minigames). This is usually the fastest part of the process. If we don’t like it or something doesn’t play out quite as well, we re-do parts of it until everything fits the way we want it to.

PS. Drawing each location out by hand means, that we have concept arts for each and every location in the game! Would you like to see them as bonus material?

2. After the sketch is completed we create a mood board, which sets the color schemes for all locations (we wanted it to not only be cohesive throughout the whole game but also reflect the passing of time – morning, afternoon, evening, etc). This is possible thanks to the “macrolocation” system we have – once you go through a set of locations you will not return to them again, so we can give you this sense of passing time.

3. Based on the concept we then proceed to fill in the details – this leads us to a complete lineart. A lineart is (just like the name suggests) a picture that has only the outlines, usually in black. If you haven’t seen one, it resembles a page taken out of a child’s coloring book.

4. When we’re happy with the result we create a color palette from the mood board and roughly place them on the lineart. At this stage, we check out if everything works together – if the scene conveys what we wanted to say and if it’s also pleasant for the eye.

5. Then come the flat colors – literally filling in the line art with flat colors. Just one color layer, no shadows, no color blending. You could think of it as colorful paper cutouts placed on the lineart.

6. The second-to-last step is creating all the shading, light reflections, and all small details that will make-or-break the picture, bringing it to life and helping us tell a story even before there’s a single word spoken or even before we introduce any of the main characters.

7. Then, of course, with games comes the step of creating the animations, different states of interactive elements (etc. closed/open doors), etc. But that’s a different part of this tale.

So, did you enjoy this little tour? Would you like to see more from Irony Curtain?. Irony Curtain premiere to celebrate the Leader’s birthday - 16/05 - Irony Curtain release to PCs!:

16 May 2019 marks one of the most importantest events in the country of Matryoshka! The Great Leader will be celebrating his birthday – and for this reason the Enlightened Father of the Nation has decided to bestow Irony Curtain: From Matryoshka with Love to the Matryoshkans! The game will be available on Steam !

The Departament of Propaganda prepared a short teaser introducing the citizens of the West to the details of Evan’s visit in the bestest country in the world:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vH42MjPlGBg&feature=youtu.be

Irony Curtain: from Matryoshka with Love is a satirical point and click adventure game set in the weird, totalitarian country of Matryoshka. It's the backdrop of the misadventures of the lowly pen-pusher Evan who accidentaly becomes a pawn in a spy war between two powers.

Irony Curtain will be available on Steam on May 16th 2019.
