Earlier this month, rumors began spreading that adidas and Alexander Wang were working together on a brand new, never-before-seen sneaker. It was a reddit user who leaked a photo of the model, which somewhat resembled the NMD City Sock. This silhouette turned out to be named the adidas AW Run and as its name suggests, it is indeed a running shoe. Unlike the NMD City Sock, this sleeker model has lightweight mesh uppers, knitted ankle sections, and full-length Boost midsoles and outsoles. However, it seems that adidas and Alexander Wang are collaborating once again to design a high-top basketball sneaker being referred to as the AW BBall.
By the end of January, fans got their very first look, albeit a leaked one, at an actual iteration of the Alexander Wang’s adidas AW Run. With the silhouette included socking-like booties, its uppers were apparently made up of grained leather, mesh and Primeknit. It was also equipped with a unique lacing system that extended all the up to the rear end of the running shoe, with a special plate there to lock it in place. Of course, full-length Boost sole units add the finishing touch. Just recently, this very month, adidas dropped two more colorways of the AW Run, both of which arrived at select adidas retailers.
However, it is obvious that Alexander Wang did not stop at just the AW Run. His latest creation in collaboration with adidas is quite fashionable for a basketball sneaker. The above photo that provides a preview of the model was shared on facebook by @cadysport. The AW BBall appears to look like a sneaker that has been brought back from the 80s. In terms of modern day additions though, it is also equipped with elastic collars, enlarged tongues and a unique lacing system. All of this has been paired with the Boost sole units. It is still uncertain if the pair seen in the photo is its actual debut colorway or just a mere sample.
